Or they are there to remind you that you have to walk through four areas to deliver your “I completed the quest” notice to whomever. Especially the NCR ambassador.

Happens when the game is more fun because of how broken it is ;)

Ugh. Asked a companion to wait, while I did a quest for them. They’ve now disappeared. Do companions reset to where they start - or do I have to do a console reset? Already lost one companion (hardcore, they died, oh well) to lose another to a glitch would be annoying

I had a one or two of those. The easiest solution is a player.moveto #dbref I’ve found, then restart.

Well, if you’re on PC. If on console, sorry mate, try a previous save or check recent locales? I’ve found them outside the vegas strip gate, at starting point, and late to arrive at the Lucky 38. If you sent them there, give 'em a day or two. They don’t go as fast as your fast travel.

Of the many weird game corruptions I’ve had, vanishing companions is one. Sometimes they just show up again unexpectedly in the middle of nowhere, sometimes they don’t.

On the PS3, if I play long enough, something is bound to go weirdly wrong after a while. Perhaps the audio will cut out, or it will become impossible to load a new area, maybe the lockpicking minigame UI will just disappear (making it a real challenge), or maybe monsters will suddenly become invulnerable. It’s really wonderful, in a way, how many failure modes this game has, none of them apparently deterministic.

I am an level 11 on my second playthrough, and after having suffer only 3 CTD during the whole first playthrough, this character seems to be bugged. I am now in the dreaded Tom Chick hell , meaning the game crashes ever hour or two.

I am not having any troubles losing saves or anything but it is definitely sapping the fun out of the game. Anyone else having a similar troubles? It has been going on for about 4 levels and while I’d like to blame it on the enhanced radio mod, the problem started before that.

Oh, i said i finished the game but i never did a summary of the technical problems. Let’s see.

With a 72 hours game, i had

-mediocre performance, but fixed with the dll.
-6 CTD.
-0 lockups.
-No save corruption.
-2 cases of dissapeared companion, had to reload to fix it.
-3 cases of ED-E firing an innocent soul.
-1 case of a companion sunk to in the ground.
-1 clearly bugged sidequest (Beyond the beef), fixed with the console.
-2 possibly bugged sidequests, i could finished them, still.

Some stats:

(yes, i used a mod to raise the level cap)

Any word on future patches, at least for the PC version? I’m about to start the game but if Obsidian has another patch upcoming I’d rather wait for that.

You weren’t kidding about Camp McCarran. So much tedious running. Also, encountered my first real bug - everyone in the yard suddenly deciding ED-E is hostile and delivering death by firing squad. Fixed by reload, but has happened a couple of times.

I do get a kick out of how much the current generation of Fallout games turn me into a packrat. I’m prepared for every eventuality. I have armour, a radiation suit, about twelve fully loaded and repaired guns, magazines galore, more drugs than a pharmacy and enough food and water to last a month. Yet even walking round with a weapon that dissolves everything hostile into green goo within five seconds of contact, I hesitate to get rid of my trustworthy cowboy repeater. Silly sod.

There’s supposed to be another patch early in the week for PC, a bit later for 360 and PS3.

Excellent, I’ll wait another few days then.

This is just a small patch, but they have some bigger patch in cert process now, that one should be coming in few weeks.

I have peeked behind the curtain. I loaded the invisible wall remover mod yesterday and before finishing up for the evening walked from the end of the northernmost road of the map due north. There’s an absolute ton of unused real estate beyond the borders of the map. It took about 10 mins to walk to the end from the point where your cursor hits the very edge. At the end of the world there’s a sheer drop into an infinite waist-high sea.

That sounds kinda scary and very cyberpunkish… I’l have to try this out!

Wasn’t there a HUGE amount of unused space around Washington as well in FO3?

Come to think of it - SLIGHTLY OFF TOPIC WARNING - are there any total-conversion-like mods for FO3? You know, like the ones that make Oblivion into a completely different game?
Or at least extensive quest-mods?

I’ll probably have some gaming time in the next week(s) and finally ordered FNV, but I still have FO3 installed, so I might take my old char for a final ride before NV arrives…

rezaf

Damn, I finally ran into main quest breaking bug about 40 hours in. My options are to revert to a really old save or try to figure out some console command to reset a quest, neither of which sounds very appealing. I’m pretty much done with most obvious side quests at this point. It’s just the main story quest.

Might want to post this in the spoilers thread but what quest are you stuck on?

The only “TC” mods I have seen for FO3 are not even finished enough to have a downloadable release of some kind.

There are some quest mods out there but I haven’t seen anything worthwhile.

So this seems to have shipped 5 million copies.

Which is awesome. Finally Obsidian has a great success. I wouldn’t be surprised if Zenimax would buy Obsidian (and I would kind of want it, if it meant Obsidian making Fallout 4, preferably on idtech5 or something).

Wow, 5 million copies. Damn.

I know the reason I didn’t wait longer is because of how much good word of mouth it got, even with some bugs and CTDs.
