I would be surprised if it didn’t.

There are mods on PC that already do both of these. I use the invisible wall remover.

I am loving New Vegas. It was a slow burner for me to start with since it’s mechanically so similar to Fallout 3, which I’ve played for hundreds of hours, though I did like the western feel the early locations give off, in contrast to the drab F3. Once I started to uncover the plot and get an idea of the players I’ve been loving it. I’ve been OCDing the game by taking each quest or minor faction I come across to the point where you seem to commit to or piss off a major faction, then leaving it and doing the same for another. The idea being to get to a point where I can decide to go for one of the factions, or none, and start finishing off each outstanding quest appropriately to my overall goal. I’m likely to turn against Caesar and House and go with either NCR or myself in this run.

The thing I love so much about New Vegas is the way the various major and minor factions and the associated quests have been arranged around the main plot. It’s quite intricately constructed and you can just plough through to the end if you want, but it’s very satisfying to explore the way everything connects. I haven’t finished the game yet - around 70 hrs in, level 22, with several interesting major locations not yet visited - McCarran, Black Mountain, Hoover Dam, the Bitter Springs area in the NE of the map and a bunch of cool places visited but not explored. I’m using a slow levelling mod and I’ve taken the explorer perk to show all the locations on the map. I intend to rinse the game thoroughly on the first playthrough.

I’ve been exploring some vaults for BoS, and just did Vault 11 last night. Wow. That place has a very cool little self-contained subplot to unravel. Quite creepy, and very well presented to the player, like a Twilight Zone episode or something.

That fuller description has me wanting it. I hope it’s not exclusive for too long.

Right, that’s why I’ll most likely be replaying on the PC instead of my current platform of choice, the 360.

I’m sure it will, but that doesn’t make it any less bullshit. And while I like the small addon model of DLC just fine, I’m not convinced it will be enough to get me to pull the game out again if I beat it before the exclusivity expires. I mean, the only reason I’ve played any of the Fallout 3 DLC is that I got sidetracked and never finished up with the game before Steam gave me a deal on the GOTY edition. I certainly haven’t touched any of the Dragon Age or Mass Effect 2 DLC, because it all came out after I’d already finished my runs with both games.

Do you think someone will be able to convert the XBOX DLC to the PC as a mod? I’m a little bummed at the chance to miss out on some additional content.

Yep and DLC after i have finished a game is a something i won’t go back to. However i never really played FO3 so bought the Game of teh year edition for a tenner including all DLC which is a real bargain. After finishing New Vegas then it will get serious play time.

Really decent DLC could be a way of selling the GOTY version cheaply a year down the line and picking up some real extra sales. Once i knew there was DLC i was waiting for the GOTY and at a price i was happy with.

Why risk it? There’s no way that Bethesda would ignore such an obvious attempt to rip them off. And none of the major mod sites would dare host it.

Unless it ends up being a long exclusive, then it wouldn’t be worth it anyway. Don’t be surprised if we see it announced at least for PC right after the 360 release.

Wow, the more complete description really does make it sound a lot better. Damn.

Alright, bear trap gauntlet and people stuck wearing gas masks. Definitely cooler than the original description seemed.

Fucking Ed-e made me waste a good hour of playtime yesterday because he randomly decides to go haywire and start killing every NPC in sight!

You can’t trust Robots!

It’s definitely scary up there. I was wandering around and didn’t realize how far North I’d gone. I hear the combat music start up and I see a small figure appearing on the horizon. I zoom in with VATS to check it out. Baby Deathclaw. OK, I think, maybe I can take it with a little luck - let’s do this.

Then I see another figure. And another.

All told, 4 baby Deathclaws and 2 full grown parents. I was dead before I had a chance to cry.

Arcade was right! Sometimes i wonder if it’s really a bug…

I just got my classic Advanced Power Armor from Fallout 2, the one that looks really intimidating, developed by Enclave. Ah, such a badass.

Interesting… I really disliked the look of that armor in F2, both the head and the sprite. The big tin can seemed more imposing and plausible.

I liked how evil it looked, especially compared to classic T51D that Brotherhood used. It made me look like Super Mutant almost : ). I really like both armors.

Same. The Enclave armor is just so imposing. It would have been nice if the power armor in 3D Fallout was as hulking as the stuff from the first two games.

Just to chime in, I have to say that despite the pervasive bugs – as characteristic of the Fallout series as ever – this is the best RPG I’ve played for some years. It’s about ten times better than the soulless Fallout 3 in every respect except art direction and engine solidity. Various other RPGs over the last few years have been superior in all manner of individual specifics, but NV just does a better job with making any given moment of the game fun and desirable to do.

I’m kind of having the opposite reaction and I just realized it last night. I really connected with Fallout3 but I haven’t yet with New Vegas … I mean, it’s good and I’m enjoying it but I’m not feeling that tingle in my gut when I play it. It’s … I dunno, I think Fallout3 had more magic to it. I guess maybe the desert isn’t working for me as well as ruined cities did.

Just goes to show, de gustibus and all that. I don’t even remember the Fallout 3 story except for that idiotic ending. It seemed like it was made by people who hadn’t played and enjoyed the original games, and didn’t really understand what they were trying to accomplish and why.

There were certainly some beautiful environmental designs and technical art worldbuilding in Fallout 3, which I why I explicitly excepted art direction (after all, NV reuses many Fallout 3 assets), but the characters, stories, situations, and quests left me cold.
