Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3, all these games were never fully patched to solve ALL the problems and bugs. The last three games had fan made unofficial patches with 100+ fixes.
Fallout: NV is not different. At least they are doing still more patches, the next one will be big, to be released with the next DLC (or before).

Well, that’s good to hear, that they’re still patching. I’m still intent on waiting for a Game of the Year edition like I did with Fallout 3. I was really happy with the quality of the game at that point. Yes, it crashed to the desktop after every 3 hours of play or so, but it never did so at any consistent point in the game, so all it required was to start the game again and to keep playing.

Lol, curiosity striked me and i just searched the unofficial patch from F3: 52 pages (pasted on Word) of fixes!!

And yeah, i also plan to buy the GOTY version, to have all the DLC in one go.

Meanwhile, here you have the unofficial patch from F:NV

I still save a lot also. The number suggested above is pretty good for me too, about 1/100 transitions crash for me. Hardly ever get a crash while in the game, but area to area does go solid lock from time to time.

I’ve heard mixed reviews of the unofficial patch. Some say that it causes more issues than it fixes. That was a while ago though, so maybe everything’s been ironed out.

The next expansion, which was originally announced for June back when they officially revealed the three that were planned, is now going to be out July 19th, with a major game patch before then. That presumably also means the final expansion will be pushed from July into August, at least.

Considering that they laid off many of the expansion development team some time ago, there’s a reasonable chance the delays are actually due to the pace of the work on the patch as much as anything to do specifically with the expansions themselves. Unless QA has proven to be more of an issue then expected.

Finished! A big thumbs up. I had the odd freeze on a transition but no other technical issues. There was a little scripting unevenness around the main plot - no-one important seemed to notice when I killed a certain faction leader, my options with Mr House seemed a bit unevenly presented, that kind of thing. Other than that my biggest issue is just how fucking depressing it is to be constantly in broken-down streets and decayed buildings. They are exactly the environments that make me sob in real life, and I have precisely zero desire to spend game time looking at peeling wallpaper, stained rubble and faded carpets…

Anyway, between this and the new Witcher and the next Risen, good times… not to mention Skyrim :)

New patch in two weeks, to be launcher together the next DLC

Changelist

Lol, i can’t post the changelog because it’s too long! Go here

Damn, now I need to hold on my playthrough since all this stuff gets fixed up.

I just bought it for pc and man… Its really a lot of the old oblivion art assets thats going on here- right down to the weird plants in the dungeon areas to the strange yellow color of some peoples faces.

I cant wait for a fallout with the skyrim engine!

Most of that stuff is very situational, meaning you likely won’t see any of it. I’m not sure what they mean by “optimization” of certain areas since I didn’t have an noticeable performance issues in those areas. And besides, the game is big enough you likely won’t be anywhere near done in two weeks anyway, so you can apply the patch then if necessary.

FNV isn’t much of an improvement in terms of graphics over the Oblivion/FO3 engine. Nor was it ever intended to be, and the reveal of Skyrim simply makes the age of that engine even more obvious. But there are a number of mods that make it look a lot better.

Thanks Sarkus, but, appearently, the patch was released now?

I find the part about being able to have 6 dlc’s installed weird though - I thought there only existed 2?

Yeah, I notice Steam just did a big update for FNV, which is consistent with what they said in the patch announcement. I missed that part and assumed they would release it closer to the next DLC, which is still 2 weeks away.

As for the six dlc thing, I’m not sure what that means. There are two official dlc’s so far and two more announced. That would make four. But maybe they are leaving room for future possibilities.

I read somewhere that some preorder stuff is considered by the game as DLC, so maybe it’s that.

I do think NV is a graphical step up from Oblivion. People have faces, and the terrain LOD isn’t as agressive. Part of that is of course the absence of foliage.

Old World Blues trailer. Heavy on the science, looks entertaining.

Looks like that fight with the giant robo-scorpion takes place in a Tranquility Lane callback.

I can’t be the only one who thought of

when watching that trailer, can I?

Is that something from Wasteland?

Reminds me of the Tarkus album cover.

Yeah, it’s the Scorpitron from Wasteland.
