I’m not planning to pick this up, but there has been a little bit of complaining about the in-game prices for most of the weapons. This pack is mostly geared for higher level, later game characters. So keep that in mind.

I picked it up, but I knew that most of it would be skewed towards the higher-end characters. I couldn’t pass up the Bozar!
Did anyone grab the Courier’s Stash? I don’t understand the point of this one at all.
Looking at the Vault entry, Gun Runner’s Arsenal doesn’t seem to interesting. Most of the “new” weapons are just “GRA xxxx”, where “xxxx” is an existing game weapon. The difference being the GRA version can accept GRA mods.
One thing I found amusing, they added a challenge: “A Slave Obeys.” Kill Mr. House with a 9 Iron for an extra 500 XP. Nephi’s Driver also counts.
The new challenges in Gun Runners Arsenal are hilarious. It’s worth it to me just for those jokes alone. They’re all really referential, and probably not something you’d ever stumble across. My favorite is the Bioshock one so far.
The gun runner’s arsenal is pretty tempting, but I’m not playing New Vegas right now so I can wait for some sort of sale. I think it’d be cool to see a mod like New Vegas Bounties that uses some of the expensive new weapons as bounty rewards.
Completionism. Some people need to have every piece of content released for a game. Also, at $2 it’s at least reasonably priced if you think you want of those items.

Gun Runner’s Arsenal is a bit crap. The new guns are just minor improvements to the vanilla versions. Bozar in particular is worse in most respect to All-American (the vanilla 5.56 unique rifle) other than the firing rate. The new challenges are just more chores. New ammo types do not set my pulse racing. Only for completionist.
At least I can be bothered with GRA, but I’ll pass Courier’s Stash. It is like Horse Armour for Oblivion, adds almost nothing. Instead of thanking hardcore FNV players with awesome content, they just want to milk us dry.

Like I said I’m not buying them, but at $4 its hardly a hardship. And you aren’t getting milked dry unless you volunteer in this case.
Well, you mod them unlike the base uniques. But yeah, it’s effectively just a Bethesda version of those weapon mods.
Courier’s stash, by contrast, is an abominiation before god.

Whatever, I’ll buy any New Vegas content so I can get more Fallout in the future. Hopefully it will be more of this game and less of Fallout 3. I am really looking forward to seeing what they can do with the Skyrim engine.

Not sure if this is the best thread for this but it didn’t seem worth starting a new topic over. At any rate, Tim Cain (of Fallout 1 and 2) has apparently joined Obsidian.
I read this on Blue’s this morning and was all sorts of excited for no specific reasons.
That is pretty cool. Does Obsidian have any announced games right now?

The only announced project is their vague subcontracting role in the Wheel of Time game.
They are currently “developing unnannounced project for leading animation franchise”, working on a “highly stylized, high profile role playing game”, and doing some sort of online, perhaps casual project. All of which may or may not be related.
Hopefully they’ll work for Bethsada again…I’d like to see their work in an engine more modern than Gamebryo!

Skyrim is still Gamebryo. But I think it’s a newer version and they have made their own improvements to their own tech.
But I agree. I would love to see Obsidian do Skyrim: Bloodmoon or such.
Yes, and I’ve used it a little even…it has some nasty limits which are not always apparent. Get sick of area loading? Well yea, but it was necessary for quite a few reasons. (Plus invisible walls, funkyness with guns and much more)
Which is why I’d LOVE to see Fallout 4 done by Obsidian in idTech, for example. I’m personally not nearly as excited about Elder Scrolls games.

I don’t know why people bring this up - Obsidian won’t be doing Fallout 4, period. It will be Bethesda. They may ask Obsidian to do other projects, and that may include a New Vegas-type spinoff after Fallout 4, but that’s about the most we can hope for.

No, it isn’t. It’s Creation Engine, which Bethesda developed. Hopefully no more Gamebryo floating objects.
