I put over 30 hours into the PC version and only remember it crashing once or twice on me. Here’s hoping I have the same luck with New Vegas.

Quicksaves were notoriously corruptible in Fallout 3 and it was recommended to never use them. A savegame utility (CASM) mod was actually created because of this problem.

Good question. I vote to convert this in the non-spoiler one, and someone make a new thread for the spoiler thread. It’s usually how it’s done.

Also, in the pc version, if you have problems with the performance, try to deactivate some settings of the water options, it seems there is a problem with one of them.

Slightly different problem. Exiting and entering the game causes the actual quicksave and autosave files to disappear, or revert to an hours older file. The fact that it reverts to an older version sounds like a steam/cloud issue.

I have yet to install the game, but I figured I’d pass it along. Nothing is worse than losing hours of progress.

7 hours on Pc now, no crashes but definitely a bug. Right at the beginning if you do the tutorial to kill geckos several of the geckos fell through the world as well as an npc girl that was there. Which just stopped it all right there because I couldn`t complete it.

Done.

Oh the irony.

Just read on NMA that GAME do not send this CE edition outside UK.Well fuck me. I have it preordered there for 3 months, and I never received any email or anything that the order is impossible. It is now on status - order commited.

So now I wonder if I should just cancel it and get normal…

I agree. I was saying that it may not be a bug. I’m just not clear whether or not Quinns had his gun drawn or not during these running AI events (though I doubt he did as there was some note about not knowing how to, or something).

Lesson learned: Never do business with GAME. I did it once and got burned pretty badly.

I think he’s referring to your strategy guide map image post. I don’t know what else to say beyond that.

I have about 25 games from them, including CE of FC2 which also came in wooden box with T-shirt and everything…never had a problem, till now.
Guess I will get it for 28 euros from dvd.co.uk (normal edition). Obsidian and Beth will get less from me.

I am over 250 hours into Fallout 3 and have had less than a handful of crashes.

Early on FO3 was a tad “unstable”. It’s been long since patched out by now, though, which should give people hope that NV will eventually have its problems fixed.

And i played “only” 66 hours and had more than 20 crashes. Some of them full lockups.

Well I played like 80 and never had a lockup or crash! My computer can kick your computer’s ass.

But… but… my computer have more gigaFlops or JiggaWats or whatever is called!!1
/hmpf!

I played FO3 on the X360, and found it very stable with one, glaring exception: the Pitt after loading DLC that came after it. That had the effect of turning the roof top section of the steel yard in the Pitt (the place with all the ingots) impassible - you’d step off the stairs and fall through the geometry to your death somewhere below the surface of the area. AFAIK, that was never fixed, in any event I gave up waiting for a fix.

And just an update - 30 minutes ago I sent them message asking what is going on, if they are gonna send it or not.
And now it says despatched. So hooray : )).
