"Family Tree" - HBO / Christopher Guest comedy

Christopher Guest comedy ordered by HBO

Christopher Guest is bringing his fake documentary wit to HBO.

Ordered direct to series, the single-camera “Family Tree” centers on Tom Chadwick, played by “Bridesmaids” cop Chris O’Dowd, a 30-year-old man who loses his job and his girlfriend and begins investigating his family’s unusual past after inheriting a mysterious box of belongings from a great aunt he’d never met.

Guest will direct. He and his frequent collaborator Jim Piddock (“Best in Show,” “A Mighty Wind”) created and wrote the project and will appear on the series, as well as executive-produce, along with Karen Murphy, who has produced Guest films such as “This Is Spinal Tap,” “A Mighty Wind” and “Best in Show.”

Obviously, this is still a ways off, but looking forward to it nonetheless.

Except Chris O’Dowd shouldn’t be allowed to do anything else until they do the oft-rumored 4th series/closing movie of The It Crowd, damnit.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES

I’m there. Especially if he brings Fred Willard and Eugene Levy along for the ride.

well?

this show rawks the sawks off your cox!

Wow what a great show. I noticed this thread last week (thanks for the bump DrDel) and they had a marathon of the first 7 on this weekend so I DVR’d the bunch. I stayed up way too late last night watching the last 3 of those a and the new one from this week. Fabulous stuff. Willard is awesome. I love how the theme seems to be how friends and family spring their dark/crazy side on you. It’s certainly has that Christopher Guest cringe inducing quality that I love.

Yeah. The GF and I have been watching it every week. Love it!

Though considering that we dressed up as Mitch/Mickey for Halloween one year… it probably wasn’t that hard to get us to like this one.
