Farewell to a real legend: Earl Scruggs

He died this morning at 88 years. Unless you’re at a Celtic revival or a Ren Faire, this man created the sound of every banjo you hear. Let’s all weep in jealousy at his playing:

Man, oh, man what an impact this guy has had in music. I was listening to some Flatt and Scruggs (and Ricky Skaggs) last night. RIP.

I grew up on artists like Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt, Earl Scruggs, and many others. We are losing them all rapidly now :(

Out of curiosity, before he died, did he give an opinion on Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” album?
