Favorite NPC barks

“We got the rockets.”

Yesss these two are among my favorites!

Not sure if Hearthstone cards count as ‘NPCs,’ but…

‘Gimme a big hug!’
‘C’thun! C’thun!!! C’THUNNN!!!’
‘I am Mal’Ganis! I am ETERNAL!’

I want this to count.

“Please don’t go. The drones need you. They look up to you.”

But seeing as it doesn’t happen in game I feel I should send myself to thread jail.

I remember loving some of the pilot dialogue in mech-commander. But not enough to be able to quote it though, so perhaps that doesn’t count either!

“heya”

  • Noober

I remember playing Gothic 2 back in college, (this was a long time ago when swearing in videogames was almost unheard of). I was running along a path with an NPC on a escort mission or something and we came across a monster that we killed together. The NPC then bellowed out “I LOVE THIS SHIT”. I just lost it and sat laughing at my computer, definitely my favourite ever bark.

sure blame it on your isp

SELECTED?

I always thought they were saying “Syndicate”!

Me too!

Either that or “Sarah Klid.”

Man, there are so many of these:

In C&C Generals maybe, you had the Cuban maybe? Or middle East? Truck suicide bomber unit. When you gave him a move order he’d go: “Why don’t you drive?”

Ivan saying “Krashaw Krashaw” or whatever in the original Jagged Alliance. I had that stuck in my head for a long time.

Does the alerted bad guy sound from the late 90s Metal Gears count?

The blargh sound a Bloated guy makes in Left for Dead. The witches cry. Damn that cry was creepy.

The guards in, I think Arena or Daggerfall, going “Stop Thief!”. For some reason it was mixed really loud and always scared the crap out of me.

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project.

Not from NPC, but from the Duke himself:

“Babes, bullets, bombs… damn, I love this job!”
“So many babes… so little time!”
“I go where I please, and I please where I go!”
[After shooting a bitch] “You’re beautiful when you’re dying.”
“So much for the rat pack…”
“Life is like a box of ammo…”
“It’s my way or… Hell! It’s my way!”
“Sorry honey… I’ve got some ass kickin’ to do first…”
[After dying] “Hmm… so there IS life after death!”
[After shooting a mutant] “Half man, half animal… all dead!”
[Freeing a busty babe] “Ooooh… careful with those things…”
“Motherf…[BEEP] key cards!”
“These colored key cards suck!”
“Someone’s gonna pay for making me find these freakin’ key cards!”
[After blowing a mutant up] “Oooh… that’s gonna leave a mark!”
“Bullets don’t kill mutants… I kill mutants!”
[Freeing a busty babe] “Hey, I know this classy place where you put coins in the bed and 'eh…”

One a friend and I sometimes still quote is “Habadakus”, from Age of Empires.

How about those inhuman laughs from the children in Assassin’s Creed 3?

I haven’t played Gothic 2 but that is a great one. The devs had a sense of humor.

My favorite Duke line is in DN3D and it wasn’t in single player. It was while playing multiplayer. I’m dodging rockets like a MFer against my buddy over the modem and as I’m interpreting the fucking Matrix like a badass in real time Duke blurts out “HOLY SHIT!”

Damn straight!

I’m kinda surprised no one has mentioned Bulletstorm yet. :)

“I am not interested in quantifying how much abuse your ass is built for.”

Back when I was gainfully employed, my subconscious would bring up this bark fairly often:

Baldur’s Gate really is a gold mine of quotes.

Spare no one!

“Don’t be a fool, marshal!”
“Here chicky chicky!”

Ok, after well over 20 years someone tells me what it meant. I was never able to find out, what they said.

“The weak fight back!”

“All who love life: Fear the Reaper.”

“Victory is our fate!”

“I will sing of firestorms now!”

“This world moves so slowly.”
