And if the protest turned violent they would have been in the way of the police, added to the confusion, and possibly responsible for some normally avoidable tragedies.

Quite frankly, I got the impression they intended on causing additional harm should anything turn violent.
At first they mentioned security for an Infowars.com journalism team, but apparently a spokesperson has denied that.
Their presence was more clear-cut last year when they were defending local businesses from looters or whatever we’re supposed to call them now. Without a clear and media-digestible reason for being there, they’re likely causing more harm than good at this point.
But ideological groups don’t always make the wisest strategic decisions.

The whole oathkeeper group should be arrested. They are doing a lot more harm than any protesters.
While I can agree that their presence may be provocative, have they shot at police? Have they looted stores? What laws have they broken?
I pulled the following from their website.
Tuesday, August 11, 2015, was quite the day for Oath Keepers. On Monday the 10th, four of our members had served as body guards at Ferguson, Missouri, for a news crew from InfoWars dot com. The whole of the Oath Keepers organization did not pile in and clog the streets. Only four Oath Keepers were working that detail, as a favor to journalists who were concerned about their safety.
If that’s true - I don’t think four people is particularly threatening, nor is a security detail unwarranted. It does appear, to parse what infowars is saying that they did not pay the Oath Keepers but they did ask for their assistance.
I believe that was blamed on outsiders.
The only harm they did was against certain entrenched sensitives. And if the protesters are causing less harm in that sense, then I guess their message isn’t getting through. :(
Guys, I have a great idea:
Let’s take what infowars is saying at face value.
Yeah, but it’s InfoWars …
Recent headlines of theirs:
“Bizarre Images of “Satan” Appear on Empire State Building”
“NATO and Russia Prepare for War”
“EPA May Have Intentionally Polluted Animas River”
I will take any and every thing that they say with a grain of salt.
So if InfoWars said they didn’t pay for or formally request security from Oath Keepers, we should be skeptical and assume they did, therefore justifying their presence at Ferguson.
I’m with you.
I think I have a coupon for a sarcasm detector recalibration around here somewhere… ;)
This is such a dumb excuse.
Whether it was the “Protesters” or “Violent elements hiding withing the Protesters” the end need is the same. The police need to be there to make sure someone within the Protester group doesn’t start shooting at cops or looting/burning the town down.
But yes, the story is the same.
If police make any preparations, it is their fault for inciting the protesters to go batshit insane.
If police make no preparations, it is their fault for not making preparations.
People need to look at themselves in the mirror. If you lived there, would you want police to prepare for the worst given what has happened during recent previous “protests.”

It also seems the Oathers have encouraged the Black Panthers to start trying to exercise their own 2nd Amendment rights.
We’ve been really lucky that so far there haven’t been a bunch of protestors willing to die for their beliefs and take people down with them. If that ever happens, we’d have a real massacre, and then things really would get bad.
It would certainly be far safer than assuming they’re telling the truth, lol
DOH! … I can use that coupon if you ever locate it

TIL Infowars. Sort of an upscale Rense.com?
A more wretched hive, etc, etc.

Yet another confrontation between a white cop and a black teen in DC, and then all hell broke loose.
On Monday afternoon, D.C. police officers broke up two groups of fighting teenagers. A few minutes later, a female officer approached the lingering crowd and told the teens to disperse.
That’s when Aaliyah Taylor, a 17-year-old senior at Ballou High School, walked up to the officer and started playing “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” on her phone. Then she did the Nae Nae dance.
The officer, according to Taylor, laughed and said she had far better dance moves than that.

Well let’s just end that shit right now.
I specifically picked an article from the daily called to see how they would spin it, but they actually didn’t. (Because no one who isn’t retarded could defend this)
But then, check the comments for maximum shame.

Yeah, I already lost my points from that earlier in the week when I heard about it.
Don’t get me wrong my Hope in Humanity stat is still negative. :)
Were these teens not aware that anyone caught battle dancing will be arrested and sent to jail?
