I’ve been playing a lot of Field Runners on my Iphone. In fact I play it while playing other games, such as Civilizations Revolutions. I’ve got the game down pat but one unit kicks my ass, Helicopters. Early on Missiles and tesla towers take them out fairly easily, but on endless mode, around round 120 they start streaming out in a column and nothing seems the stop them. I even tried lining their route with sticky towers to slow them down but it doesn’t help much. Anyone have a good combo to stop these pests?
I got to round 256 using mostly the new flamethrower and mortar towers. With area effect weapons, when they come in tight streams it doesn’t much matter, if you have the firepower to kill one you have the firepower to kill them all.
Try something like Sticky at the centerline, flanked by two Flamers (mirroring up and down from the center square), flanked in turn by two Mortars, flanked by Missiles. I used just about no Tesla towers that time around. I used a few more Stickys at the end of rows. Late in the game I think I was replacing the Flamers with more Mortars.
Sticky is the only thing that got me to about level 125 and above. That and missiles. The cost of the lightning towers didn’t really justify what damage they would do, although I still had a few along the helicopter route. As is stands, along the route I have one sticky and two missiles every other line perpendicular to the route the helicopters take. Every second one of those has an additional lightning tower as well.
With the new version I’ll have to try new weapons to find out but in the original version, I consider helicopters to be the single thing that ends the game after a long period of time.
Upgraded Tesla towers kick major ass because they fire so much faster. I really think you need those and the sticky towers before the update.
I haven’t played since the new patch came out, though.
