I don’t understand the cowardice. I mean, aren’t they all rich already? Sure they might lose their jobs, but they’ll be fine!
Rooney isn’t even running for re-election, I think. He’s got nothing at all to lose.
It is necessary to understand that they aren’t afraid of losing anything; they’re just genuinely bad people, who are irredeemable, and should be treated as such.
Republicans hate liberals and Democrats more than anything. When forced to choose between a lying, cheating criminal and Democrats, they’ll take the criminal. This is obviously true of our elected representatives, and it’s been true of more than 50% of the Republican voters I’ve known. If you think through it, this explains a lot.
When you guys read some quote by some retired Republican official, and he’s lamenting not being able to do anything while he had power, and you guys are like, “you could have done something, jackass!” Well, remember that doing something would have meant siding with Democrats. And that’s worse than supporting Trump. If you go back to this idea, it explains pretty much everything. Including the question, “how do these people sleep at night?” Well, they supported an idiot, not the enemy.

You can never be too rich or too fucked in the head.
Way to go out on a limb there, Rooney.
Don’t get your hopes up, though:
There’s now a growing sense among a quiet group of Republicans that the president is playing with fire, taking their loyalty for granted as they’re forced to “defend the indefensible,” as a senior House Republican said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to talk frankly.
Gee, you don’t suppose the reason Trump has grown so bold is that these Republicans always stay quiet and only object anonymously?

Power and relevance. Without those jobs, they’re just old men who used to be somebody.
That’s also how I explain Barr and Guiliani.
“I strenuously object!!” (said the Republican senator, screaming into his pillow at night.)

I mean, saying “Republicans hate Liberals,” may be true. But let’s be realistic, both sides hate the other side. That’s just obviously true from this forum alone.

Heh, so by struggle they mean they just keeping doing it anyway. Must feel good to tell yourself you’re struggling while you continue to uphold a deal with the devil. I’ll shed my crocodile tears for them later.
Certainly the animosities exist, but you know, the occupied French citizens hated their Nazi oppressors probably as much as they were hated in return. Both sides!
Perhaps one distinction you could grant is that Democrats don’t generally formulate policy or act based on little more than a desire to fuck Republicans, while Republicans do in fact often formulate policy or act for little reason other than to fuck Democrats. I’m looking at you, Mitch.
This is the default position you should take with anyone identifying as Republican today.
In fact we want to give them health care and keep the planet habitable for them.
This both sides bullshit.
If Hillary Clinton had worked with Russia and withheld aid to a foreign government on exchange for a dirty investigation into Mitt Romney or whatever, Democrats would vote to impeach. Republicans are like, yeah, but Democrats…

I dunno dude. I hope you’re right, but I’m worried you aren’t. I know there are a lot of folks on the left who are just as blindly partisan. I hope that there aren’t enough to control the party like the GOP, but i can’t say with certainty that there aren’t.
What i know is that at some point, someone in power on the left is going to do something that’s just as clearly wrong as what we are seeing Trump do. Hard to imagine that it would be a impactful as what Trump is doing, but who knows.
I hope that when that time comes, folks here judge it without partisan bias.
When was the last time someone in power on the left did anything as bad as Trump? When was the last time someone in power on the left did anything as bad as GWB? Why should anyone change their minds based on your baseless fears?
