“You’re an experienced diplomat. Ambassador Sondland is an ambassador to the european union, Rick Perry is…”
And in that huge pause, I imagine everyone watching sees:
Trump supporters cannot be swayed. It is known.
The value of campaign ads like the one described in the tweet is for lower information voters who are only going to start paying attention after the primaries are settled.

That was done by the NSC counsel Eisenberg. Eisenberg has certainly exposed himself to obstruction of justice charges. If Trump ordered him to do it, that would certainly go to Trump’s state of mind but Eisenberg isn’t testifying. Personally, I doubt Trump himself knows anything about official presidential record-keeping, except to wish there was less of it.
What defines the upper class, beyond golden retrievers, and old oriental rugs, are those mannerisms you describe. A sense of gentility, and a reflexively backwards looking ethos. In so far as individuals embody those qualities, and live in very specific places in the United States, Nantucket, but not Martha’s Vineyard, they’re part of it.
Trump, with that gold toilet, and his name written large, on all those properties, could never be part of the club.
I find this topic interesting because it helps explain the infighting in the Republican Party, and because class is forbidden subject in America. It’s the one thing we’re not allowed to talk about.

Yes class is totally forbidden topic in America. Please do go on.

What are you talking about? This is just made up and is certainly not true. Anyone not from America, don’t listen to him. It’s simply not true. It is neither forbidden nor avoided in conversation.

Describing some who has had personal staff his entire adult life, who’s never shopped in a grocery store or taken his own car to the shop, as “working or middle-class” is ridiculous.
Trump is a vulgarian, which is an option only available to the privileged, and one that quite a few privileged people select. A few of these ended up in Trump’s cabinet.

This is hilarious. Several Presidential candidates have made class the central point of their campaigns, and you’re suggesting it’s some sort of forbidden topic. Not only is it not forbidden, but class is talked about all the time.

I think you’re confusing real life with the movie Titanic.

A short fingered one, to quote Spy magazine. RIP.
Guys, listen, upper class means Nantucket, not the Vineyard. They let Obama hang out on the Vineyard. It is known.
Nunes is like a passive-aggressive 13 year old.
Man. When you’ve lost Babs…
It’s amazing that these guys can be, at the same time:
- obviously carefully crafting their responses to dance around the problems
- not particularly believable in their denials about their state of mind at the time
- still devastating to the Republican defense.
Gym is in the locker room! Let the shouting begin!
Because of course that’s all they have.
Suffice to say that this isn’t what the Republicans were hoping they would get out of today’s testimony by two Republican-called witnesses.
Tomorrow is the biggest day in the hearing so far. If Sondland produces testimony that lines up with everyone else, it’s going to be one hell of an infrastructure week.
