I’ve said this since 2016. I honestly thought that his nomination alone would have ended the party in 2016, but then he won. However, the way elections have been going since, and how Trump is clearly losing his mind more every day, I think my original prediction was correct… it just took 4 years of Trump destroying America for the GOP to finally die.
Concur with the impression of Nunes though… The Fox news viewers absolutely hate Schiff, and love Nunes. The fact that Nunes is a dumbfuck doesn’t matter. He’s a hyper partisan for their team, and that’s what they want.
After flying for like 20 hours, I flip on the TV just in time to catch this tirade from Nunes.

In international news, the Impeachment was on TV at first, but has now taken a back seat to Netanyahu’s indictment, which is now dominating all coverage.
It’s hard to do, but Nunes is a bigger dipshit than Jimmy Jordan. Congrats.
No matter what Trump has done, the Republicans losing the Senate next year would be a major upset. I certainly hope for it, but it is unlikely.

Fiona Hill is a British-born (but now officially U.S. citizen) career American foreign affairs specialist. She is a foremost authority on Russian (and formerly Soviet) and European affairs and has served for years on the National Security Council (resigned in August) and in the American intelligence community. She is one of the very few Trump Administration appointments (named to his NSC advisory council in early 2017) that was a near perfect choice (likely because it was made by someone inside the NSC, not Trump’s Administration).
In other words, she is a consummate career professional in foreign services and we’re damn lucky to have her on our side. Her words carry weight, and I am glad to see she used her time on the stand to make some very pointed remarks about election interference, Russian tactics, bullshit conspiracy theories and what we need to be focusing on to save American democracy from destruction.
Unfortunately, those people who most need to be listening to her are instead going to be listening to Nunes and Jordan followed by Hannity and Judge Pirro.
As I’ve said before, the measure of success for this impeachment inquiry isn’t going to be whether or not Donald Trump is removed from office, as that’s not going to happen with a GOP controlled Senate. The measure of success will be how many witnesses Democrats can get on the record basically admitting to America that Donald Trump and his Administration are incompetent at best, and corrupt and easily influenced by foreign agents at worst. Bonus points if Democrats can make Republicans look like liars and idiots while trying to defend Trump and company. So far, it’s been a huge success. Those 35% are never going to vote anything other than what Fox News tells them to vote, but the other 65% of voters are getting a primer on exactly why we need to make some sweeping changes if we want to save the country. Hopefully lots of unregistered voters are also watching and realizing they can make a difference in 2020 as well.
