Seriously doubt anything will come of it in the Senate, at least in terms of an actual trial, much less conviction. But at the very least it will highlight once again how horrible the GOP is. Whether that will make any difference at this point I have no idea.

I fucking hate the construction of, “well, now that the Republicans have said it’s ok to solicit foreign interference in elections, they’ll have to let Democrats do it too”.
That is ascribing consistency to Republicans which they don’t have. Of course if a Democratic president does the exact same thing, they’ll impeach. Just like how only Democratic (or black) presidents aren’t allowed to nominate Supreme Court justices in their last year.
The whole “get the Republicans on the record” thing means nothing, because the Republicans have no shame, no morals, and no goal except self-enrichment.

It’s more about getting them on the record and hammering it into every campaign commercial forever.
It doesn’t matter if they have shame. They can still be shamed. Their lack of morality can be highlighted.
