Is this like a variant of that adage that all questions in headlines can be answered with “No”?

Yeah, we’ve all collectively hallucinated the last seven or so years.

Absolutely we should respect all lifestyles north of idk weird harmful cult shit. But acting like there isn’t a whole lot of, ahem, aggressive tone policing out there in the wider discourse is rich.

Heyo! Ukraine launching an investigation

Not exactly the investigation Giuliani was hoping for.

This kills me.

The whole thing with the pens was weird.

It’s a very ordinary thing to sign an historic bill or resolution with multiple pens. I imagine Newt Gingrich did exactly the same thing back in 1998 and no one said a thing about it.

LOL…yeah, believe a straight shooter like Rudes instead!

“Faithful execution of the law does not permit the president to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law,” the GAO wrote in an eight-page report.

Edit:
Text of the Presidential Oath of Office:

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

It’s all on Twitter and social media. It doesn’t really exist in any significant amount in face-to-face communication. (I’m much much much much more likely to be told a racist joke than to have someone call me out for using the wrong pronoun.) And it’s not a thing among notable leftist figures in media or politics. Twitter and social media do have an effect on perception, but they’re not real. They’re really not. They way they amplify collective delusion without the mitigating effect of tone and body language and nonymity (what’s the opposite of anonymity?) will probably be catastrophic. We’re not psychologically geared to place that kind of discourse in the context necessary to make it empathetic, which means we see the worst and say the worst and think the worst and believe the worst and it just feeds itself in a spiral of meanness and stupidity. Meanwhile, really bad shit is actually being done by some people that is obscured by the maelstrom of social media circular firestorms.

My gut check is: how does this work in face-to-face IRL interactions? Anything on social media that doesn’t match up I try to ignore.

Actual CNN headline this morning, “Pelosi gambled and lost with impeachment delay.”

Too much to ask of these shitheads to perform their jobs.

yeah, I get that. But I think impeachment should just be a solemn signing without a commemorative item. Especially after she kept telling people not to celebrate. Big bills like the ACA, or the tax reform, sure.

And in that article, he says that it does seem like there is some momentum for a majority of the Senate to agree to call witnesses, but that it has nothing to do with Pelosi’s delay. So she lost.

The trial process kicked off at noon. Schiff is introducing the articles right now. CSPAN-2 has it up.

Look, it takes a lot of time to clutch pearls, ok?

Dear lord, it’s the American Idol impeachment

Seriously, I get so damn tired of the “I haven’t seen it” lie they’ve been telling since the start of this administration. Look, fuckfaces, if I work a full time job completely unrelated to governance and I’ve read reports that you insist you haven’t? Then you’re a fucking incompetent and you should go.

The fact that lie is even effective with the base is galling. If we have an important project at work and when I’m asked about an important document I’d be fired if my response was “I dunno about that, I didn’t bother reading it”. How is this an excuse in any way? I haven’t read it? Fuck you, do your damn job. I’d want to throw out my rep/senator for saying such a thing.

Gah. These past three years have been so incredibly exhausting. I’m so sick of the corruption and the partisan circling of the wagons to protect a grossly incompetent criminal in the White House.
