It’s like they activated the wingnut signal, flashing it on the clouds looming over Gotham.

Probably true, but what does “backfire” mean? No Republican is going to vote to convict, no matter what.

This would certainly be true if anything mattered anymore. I’m not trying to be flippant or jaded but seriously, this sort of hypocrisy doesn’t matter anymore. It’s not going to convince anyone that hasn’t been convinced. It’ll make all of us shake our heads or our fists, but it’s not going to move the needle. We’ve already had three years of this blatant hypocrisy, this will just be more of the same.
There is no defense of Trump beyond he’s the captain of their team, and maybe some sort of demigod to them or something. That’s why a lot of the defense is going to be be a shrug and a “he’s the President, he did nothing wrong”. It doesn’t matter if they would try to execute a Democrat for doing the same thing, they’re on the other team.

Kindof hillarious and sad that investigations are happening, but not quite what Trump had in mind.
Of course this investigation will be conducted with the utmost dilligence. It’s not like the outcome has been pre-judged. Oh.
“I suspect that much of what’s been reported will ultimately prove wrong, but our obligation, my obligation as secretary of state, is to make sure that we evaluate, investigate. Any time there is someone who posits that there may have been a risk to one of our officers, we’ll obviously do that,” Pompeo said.

Popehat just murdered Newt Gingrich.

He’s choosing “celebrity” attorneys like it’s a new season of the apprentice. I wonder if the trial will last long enough for us to see them get fired off one by one. He should add Judge Jeannie to the team too.

Ouch, damn, I felt the heat from that burn in my cubicle.

It’s going to be really interesting to find out what kind of kompromat there is on Dershowitz.

It’s not very hard to guess given his position on statutory rape. He has literally argued that if a girl is old enough to decide to have an abortion without the state or her parents being able to stop her, she’s old enough to decide to have sex with anyone without state or parental interference, even if it is a creepy old lawyer dude.
Is this to do with Newt’s multiple wives, or is it referencing some Newt quote I never heard? Not sure what makes it such a sick burn…
He left his wife for a younger woman while she was in the hospital being treated for cancer.
I believe that was his second wife, yes? to move on to the third?

It’s amazing how this guy had pictures with literally everyone in the entire GOP.

He must be a supervillain because all their memories of him seem to have been erased. Could he be The Wiper?
Also a friend to the family.
I am not interested in seeing more “photo-op” staged photos, because they don’t indicate working relationships. Show me more of him at a meeting table with people doing business, or emails where he is giving reports or taking orders.

Good luck tying that guy to Ken Starr though, Libtard.

This really is not surprising, based on his personality. Trump has always been the idiot who buys gold toilets because in his mind gaudy, flashy things are classy and impressive. He has a high school brain that thinks putting AC-DC symbols all over his notebooks makes him badass.
He is the definition of new wealth - he attempts to mimic good taste/refinement, but ends up with some horribly butchered simulacrum of it.
So it is not surprising that his choice of counsel is what a 65 year old midwestern housewife would think was an awesome legal team based on her lifelong viewing of Oprah and bad Lifetime OJ documentaries.
I know people mostly remember Ken Starr from the Clinton impeachment, but let’s not forget his role in mishandling (i.e., likely covering up) rape and sexual assaults at Baylor University.
