Well, a matter of perspective I guess and I expected something different. Plenty of democrats in that thread making some of the same arguments you would find here. More name calling, but that’s because the extreme right doesn’t post here.
Difference between uneducated and stupid. If you equate the two, it’s understandable. I don’t though. As I said upthread, the education in this country is horrible. If you don’t have the skill to filter information given to you, then you can’t trust anything. Good job of those evil fuckers to capitalize on that with “fake news”. Divide and conquer.

No, I’m not saying they are uneducated.
I’m saying they are stupid. They lack the ability to consume and process information.
Trump said in his campaign “I love the uneducated”. His language isn’t full of those big fifty dollar words that sound so nice but are so slippery. He uses “very” a lot.
Lumping such a big portion of the population as just “stupid” is dangerous. Why would that be? Genetics?

Being smart is hard. It takes effort. Stupid is easy.
That’s… crap. Stupid is a not-nice way to describe people with less mental ability. Just being lazy is not the same thing.
Sure, people act stupid all the time.

What’s the different between a stupid and an uneducated person to you?

We were all educated in that same system, so why do we have the ability?
I’m more interested in knowing if you think they are the same. Do you really think that, or are you just fucking around [IE: being a troll].

Yet they trust Trump and the GOP 100% in everything.
So… they can trust, they just choose to trust a man who lies on the record multiple times a day every day for years.
See, I call that stupid. That’s not a matter of education, it’s a matter of being fucking stupid.
Like I know street smart people that couldn’t find the US on a map. You know what they are good at knowing? When people are full of shit and if they can trust them. I wouldn’t call them stupid, though they are uneducated, and they see through someone like Trump before he even says a word.
If anything your example is completely backwards to my experience. Educated people get suckered all the time. I know even more of those and they’re almost all suckers for various cons. They have high INT and low WIS. The street smart people are the opposite. And, just like D&D, the people with the high WIS tend to be better at sorting out lies and who they can trust. The high INT people have trouble fathoming that people “of authority” could ever lie to them. Cops don’t lie after all, they must’ve shot that black man in the back of the head because of something he did.
Edit: The other nice thing about the street smart people is that they tended to know what they knew and what they didn’t. If I had to try to explain some science thing to them that they didn’t understand, they’d listen and accept that you knew and were probably right.
Meanwhile on the other side those people told me how much smarter I was than they were for hours and then in the next breath told me how I was stupid to believe easily provable facts that disagreed with their preconceived worldview.

I think they’re different. An uneducated person may lack exposure to formal education, but they aren’t an idiot. They can still learn things. They can perform rational thought processes.
To put out into D&D terms, a stupid person lacks intelligence, while an uneducated person simply lacks wisdom.
A child, for instance, can be very intelligent, but uneducated.
But this isn’t what i see when i look at a Trump rally.
Shit. I was preparing an honest essay. I’m so gullible.
Are you kidding me? Schools vary wildly, mostly based on economic demographic. Also private schools if you can afford. Watch the Wire.

So your assertion is they all went to the shitty schools, and everyone else got the good ones?
ShivaX

I see it the other way around.
Pretty much. Plenty of shitty schools. Also parenting is a big piece. We are talking about a smaller percentage of the pop that voted him in.

I went to the same school as lots of Trump supporters. So… that doesn’t work.
Like literally the same school. Same teachers, same classrooms at the same time.
As I said, parenting plays a big part in education.
edit: in general the public school system in he US is bad. Kids who’s parents stayed home or paid for tutors have it better.
edit edit: before the thread craps up anymore, my assertion “the majority of Trump voters are not stupid. Poorly educated more likely.”
Thanks all.

I still want to hear what you think the difference is between a stupid and an uneducated person.
A ton of Trump supporters aren’t uneducated in any literal sense. Trump got around 40% of the college educated vote in 2016.

Sorry, no. People with normal mental ability who are intellectually lazy are stupid by choice. I think that describes Trump supporters quite well.

I know a person who has brain damage from a fever when he was a child.
He hates Trump.
He has “mental abilities” around that of an 8-year-old.

I for one dig @Anklebiter’s take on thing. Why don’t we just agree that rampant stupidity is a consequence of bad basic education.
You can educate a person of below average intelligence to a point where they ain’t stupid no more. But apparently that ain’t happening enough.
