The only reason the Biden’s matter is because the foundation of Trump’s defense is that he did what the Dems said he did. It’s just that he did it to expose corruption and not to personally benefit politically. Of course it ignores the point that even if that were true, Trump still abused the power of his office. The bottomline is he denied a foreign nation funds that were approved and already earmarked by congress. He had no authority to withhold those funds and doing so was tantamount to blackmail. It doesnt matter of he had good motives. If I rob a store to help a save a family from starving, I still broke the law. Mitigating circumstances don’t matter, I committed a crime. Of course in this case, Trump would have certainly benefited personally and politically from his blackmail stunt. Trying to make us believe that he acted completely altruistically is laughable at best. Of course the defense doesn’t care if we believe, they just want some form of doubt so they can protect the GOP senators from any fallout when they officially violate their oath to be fair and impartial.
