They are both owned by Murdoch, or were (did Fox Broadcasting get bought by Disney?), so they are related, but I think the purpose behind Fox News was to give a major outlet to right wing thought (or insert whatever word you want there). I have no idea what Murdoch’s agenda was/is other than that he seems to be evil.
