Moscow Mitch was never going to let it drag out (…i.e. be a legit trial of a man he knows is guilty of the charges and completely incompetent), and possibly hurt his precious senate majority. Only thing to do is vote as many of the sacks of shit out as possible. Including the Moscow turtle. Support his opponent.

Just because those congressmen are great Americans and they deserve it.

What does that mean, exactly? The law firms made campaign donations? The individual attorneys out of their pockets?

From the article, it looks like the individuals donated money to bunches of the GOP senators.

That’s a really good point. Allowing witnesses may have led to the perception that Republicans were being reasonable.

In hindsight that’s perfectly obvious. For me personally I guess I held out some hope that maybe, just maybe some spark of moral fortitude still existed with some Republicans and that not that not every single one was an empty husk. I earned the lucyfootball.gif

(Edit: Just to be clear, not that they would vote to acquit but rather hold a fair ‘trial.’)

I supposed the lawyers will now pocket ten times the amount contributed in legal fees? And who pays their fees? Taxpayers?

Are lawyers allowed to bribe juries in the real world? Wouldn’t they be disbarred if this was a traditional trial?

I think you found the difference between a real trial and a Senate trial run by Republicans with a Republican defendant.

Also:

In that first tweet shouldn’t “yet” be “therefore”?

Huh.

Who knows if that’s true (i’d it would be true in the future) but it increasingly looks like the political system breaking down.

There’s a good chance that if we don’t suffer a political crisis the next 10-20 years are effectively both parties preventing the other to the best of their ability from doing anything at all.

I’m sure it’s true that there would be a ‘push’, whether they’d go through with it, who knows. They were pushing for impeachment of Hillary Clinton before election day. None of these shitheads are fit to hold office.

Of course, the Senate can’t impeach anyone, and minorities in the House can’t either. So the immediate move to impeach Biden might be a lot like the impeachment of Barrack Obama.

Yes, that’s true. Something she probably had forgotten or didn’t even know.

You have to control the house to impeach, right? So Biden winning and the Democrats losing the house in the same election seems impossible. But it could happen in 2 years.
