I actually spend 2 IP in that case.

OK so the vote is currently 37 No votes and 23 Yes votes with @Panzeh still to vote. He has 11 votes to start so he’ll need to spend 1 IP for 14 Yes votes and a tie.

@Brooski, 2 from faction, Van Buren, or a mix?

Van Buren

Assuming @Panzeh spends one IP for enough votes to tie then Clinton will vote Yes to break the tie.

I don’t know that we should assume if it involves a choice on his part

I read that as a conditional. If Panzeh spends the point, then Clinton will break the tie. Keeps the game moving if @Panzeh makes his move while Ironsight’s asleep or whatever.

Sounds like @Ironsight shouldn’t be sleeping, then, eh? Eh??

@CF_Kane read my intent correctly. However in about 5 hours it will have been 24 hours without any move by @Panzeh at which point the 25th Amendment will kick in and Clinton will act for Polk. He will propose that @Panzeh has Stevens use one IP for 3 Yes votes, with approval from @CF_Kane as required, giving his faction 14 Yes votes and then Clinton will break the tie with a Yes vote.

Play Coalition Building to get the extra votes and vote yes with 14 votes.

VP Clinton breaks the tie with a Yes vote to pass the Webster-Ashburton Treaty. @CF_Kane

Sorry about being late, btw.

The Webster-Ashburton Treaty was a triumph for the Secretary of State, who became party leader presumptive during Polk’s lame duck year.

@Panzeh, President Polk needs to appoint Secretaries of War and of the Treasury, as well as an Envoy.

Polk would retire as one of the great presidents, in line with Washington, Hamilton, and John Quincy Adams. Able statesmen all, and fine leaders for the early years of the American Republic.

Once @Panzeh decides on appointments, we will move to the Treasury phase and the election of 1840.

Taney as SecWar, WR King at Treasury, R King as Envoy

Really? No offices for the people who are thirty points behind?

@CF_Kane for Treasury and then Election of 1840.

Treasury Phase

The United States remains on sound financial footing. (255 +38 revenue).

The Election of 1840

Prior to the election of 1840, here is the current game state:

image image image

Thaddeus Stevens (@Panzeh) is the leader of the Liberal Party. Daniel Webster (@Ironsight) is the leader of the Conservative Party.

The Conservative Party enjoys the edge in public support, so Thaddeus Stevens must select his running mate first.

@Panzeh, over to you to choose a running mate for Thad.

Thad chooses US Grant

@Ironsight to accept (or not). If you accept, also nominate a VP.

Apologies, I have a PM from @Ironsight indicating that he will accept the nomination of Grant. Daniel Webster nominates Roger Taney. @Navaronegun, do you accept the nomination?
