Four new Gothic 3 screens

… from a preview at 1up.

With this, Oblivion, and perhaps NWN2, who really needs anything else?

(Finished Fable last night - also surprisingly good :)

Amen to that. Biggest complaint about Fable was it just need more. More everything. More (and bigger) levels, more towns, more weapons, more traderoutes, more armor, more enemies, more NPCs, more guards. Just more. And yet, even if that is it’s only failing, it’s all that seems to matter.

Anyway, I just got Gothic II about 2 weeks ago. I never knew what all this hype surrounding the game was… it looked like some shoddy German ripoff of Morrowind. Boy, was I wrong. Gothic 2 has been rocking my world.

Looking at these screenshots I’m really excited. Just pick off on what Gothic II did right, add some more polish and features, and wow. This is getting really high up on my most wanted list - I loved what Gothic 2 did, and Gothic 3 seems to be offering that with another 3 or 4 layers of polish.

Screenshots are not really new if you follow Gothic 3 closely, though I don’t want to discourage anybody from posting news involving the Gothic series.

I played Gothic 2 for a while and thought there was some really great stuff there. But it felt like the game needed a control pad instead of the keyboard setup they give you. Did anyone try it with a control pad? Was that possible? The screens from Gothic 3 look great. I’m extremely excited for this, Oblivion, NWN2, maybe even some Dragon Age, and definitely my 3 pre-ordered copies of Dungeon Lords!!!111!!1112525!!^^

As for Fable, I loved it. Thought it was a great game, the perfect RPG for me with what my schedule is and my limited playing time. Really hope they announce a sequel for the 360 soon.

Hmm, I’m wondering if I should pick up 2 in anticipation of 3. My roommates have recently been clamoring about how awesome 2 was.

That was my impression exactly. It’s like they tried to replicate console controls on a keyboard. I don’t know how much glue they had to huff in order to think that was a good idea.

Considering it’s expected in September, you have plenty of time to fix your negligence … as do I. Chapter 3, here we go.

Gothic 2 is one of my all time favorite games, and now is a good time to grab it since you can get the ‘gold’ version for $20 which has the original game plus expansion.

I was happy to hear the September date.

It worked ok once I got sued to it, but I did wonder why there was no console version, seems it could have filled some need on the xbox at least. I’d like g3 on 360 more than oblivion, w/ no mods to miss out on and these types of controls + 3rd person view, it makes more sense than oblivion to me.

Can someone post an alternate link? Can’t get to 1up from here.

Game has been announced for September now, hopefully they will meet that date. http://www.rpgdot.com/#46719

Bah, was beaten to the punch by a mile, thought those where all old posts.
