For some reason American news seems to always grab a hold of something like this and basically run it into the ground. Remember when the Peterson woman went missing, all the press that got, all they way up and including the trial. Or OJ even. People die everyday but somehow certain cases became the cause celeb.
My usual news sources are WaPo and NY Times with a smattering of lefty rags like Slate and Vox.
Never heard of Tibbets until Fox via Qt3.

A quick google search shows that my local paper (Fresno Bee) has been running stories on her for several weeks.
I would just think (or maybe hope although I mean this in a good way) that WaPo or the NYT would be above this type of sensationalizing of someone’s disappearance.

My primary source is MSN. MSN does not create news, it pulls from several sources, and Fox is one of them.
I once demoted CNN as my browser homepage when it put Scott Peterson on its headline.
The correlation between the attractiveness of the young women and their press coverage when the disappear is near perfect.

Ok, after a little research, it appears that is Aretha Franklin. The picture in the upper right (which you can barely see in the image above) is Patti LaBelle. So that’s the screw-up. Apparently Fox claims they were showing an image where Franklin and LaBelle performed together, but Franklin accidentally got cropped out (or obscured by the foreground picture). But apparently (again) Franklin wasn’t at the show that picture is from. So, that’s another screw-up.

It’s fairly common when state and local law enforcement don’t get anywhere.
The Midwest is fairly limited in their ability to look into things at the end of the day. The Feds can pull records and info from across the country.
Think Silence of the Lambs. The FBI comes in to help out when the locals can’t do it.
True, but a lot of these disappearances end up with the Feds involved. Now “being involved” often involves like one or two agents from the capitol office coming in and doing what little they can, but it’s still technically “the FBI is involved with the case.”

We’ve got to focus on stopping all this nonsense: corruption, the missing billions of dollars, oil-for-food scandals – it’s all got to end. Refugees moving around the world unchecked with no documents and then having nowhere to go – this is going to stop.

Well this ended as most people expected, pretty tragically. Probably the boyfriend or an ex, I’d guess, but I’m sure Fox will cover it for another month or so as they figure it out. I love how Fox notes it “captured national headlines” aka Fox News.
