“What about all the people Stalin DIDN’T kill? Tonight on Hannity.”

I actually winced when I saw the news about the arrest in the Mollie Tibbetts case. I mean, at least her family can get some closure and hopefully justice, but an illegal alien actually did abduct and kill her? It just couldn’t be any more perfect for FOX and the Trumpsters. I am physically ill imagining the high fives and shit eating grins exchanged around the FOX newsroom and the Trump cabinet when the news broke.

It is extremely difficult to convince racists of anything. The burden of proof is always on the immigrants to prove that they are perfect. Good behaviour or the lack of crime is ignored, and whenever crime does occur (as it does with any grouping of people) they jump on it. It’s confirmation bias and the predisposition feeding it is racism.

It’s extremely frustrating to have more than a dozen neurons in the brain when the following conversation plays out over and over:
“Did you hear that an illegal immigrant / person of colour killed X?”
“Yes? What is the implication of the question?”
“See, I told you this stuff happens all the time!”
“It doesn’t mean what you think it does, statistically…”
Then they eye roll and shut down and think you’re crazy.

and

Exactly. You just know Trump’s going to crow about this at his next rally.

“Poor Mollie Tibbitts. Such a beautiful young girl, so bright. Killed by an illegal immigrant scumbag folks. Sad. So sad. You know, people are saying if my wall were in place, poor Mollie might still be alive today folks. That’s right, we need my wall to stop these scumbags from south of the border from killing our beautiful young girls. Let me hear that wonderful chant! Build That Wall!”

And the worst part is, there is just enough truth in there (innocent young woman killed by stranger who was in the country illegally) that it will stick even with people who should know better.

Yeah, Chris Watts killed his whole family and shoved em in an oil container, but that doesn’t count cause he’s a white dude.

But they finally got their illegal immigrant killer they’ve been wishing for since the election. And he killed a pretty white girl in Iowa. If everyone wasn’t going to jail they’d be ecstatic.

Don’t worry Joe Walsh is still running with it.

Fox News was already saying tonight that she’d be alive in her class today if not for the illegal alien that brutally killed her.

If every American citizen was deported, we’d have no murders by Americans all year round!

Let’s wait until he’s found guilty until we decide he’s guilty. Due process and all.

Wouldn’t be surprised if the cops were told to round up someone brown in the area, just saying.

You mean we actually wait until the legal process is complete before we convict someone of a crime or activity? Wow, nobody does that on the internet.

It’s downright un-American, honestly.

Yea, I mean we would have to consider Trump innocent. Like that’s gonna happen.

Well, we have some evidence in the Trump matters. Not sure we have the same level of evidence for the guy accused here.

When he noticed an earpiece from headphones on his lap, he realized he had put the woman in the trunk of his car. When he went to get her out of the trunk, he “noticed blood on the side of her head,” according to the affidavit.
On Tuesday, Rivera led authorities to a body hidden in a cornfield

I’m OK with assuming the guy did it, unless proven otherwise.

Sounds like evidence that’s legit. Glad he’s been found and arrested.

I am not sure by the Tibbet’s case and the Trump cases are being discussed as if they are even remotely the same.

Because we’re in the ‘Fox News thread of bizzaro-world’ thread, and because Fox News is using the Tibbetts case to both flog the immigration issue and avoid having to cover Manafort/Cohen.

The illegal immigrant angle and arrest timing is so convenient that a conspiracy theorist might even speculate that Fox manufactured the entire disappearance as a way to distract from the impending Manafort trial, knowing that a missing person can be slow-cooked as long as necessary until the perfect day that it needs to be unleashed.

I’m just saying. #falseflag #infowars

This is basically what we are talking about:

It’s Tuesday afternoon. Imagine, for a moment, that President Trump logs on to Twitter. News is breaking that could prove existential for his presidency. But his social media feed hardly records the magnitude of the developments.

Instead, a link from Sean Hannity of Fox News appears, announcing the intention of Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, to enter a guilty plea but omitting the fact that Cohen’s admission implicates the president. A minute later, another link from Hannity comes through, this one about a former congressional IT staffer targeted by conspiracy theories cooked up by right-wing media and advanced by the president.

Trump’s carefully curated feed is a reflection of the ideological chasm that’s dividing the media and splintering society. Tuesday offered vivid evidence of the way in which right-wing media insulates Trump, and his most devoted supporters, from blunt assessments of his administration.

There were examples across social media, television, talk radio and conservative websites.

Alongside a Daily Caller story about Cohen were laudatory posts about Trump, from the president’s defense of free speech to his status as “the most feminist president.” TheBlaze gave prominence to Trump’s attacks on ESPN for not “defending our anthem,” foregrounding the president’s grievances with NFL players who kneel during the national anthem to protest police violence.

Meanwhile, conservative talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh asserted that special counsel Robert S. Mueller III isn’t interested in what Trump’s former attorney has to say.
