Democrats and others who didn’t vote for Trump aren’t part of the Trump Country, I guess.
The timeline where Geraldo becomes the hero might not be the worst, but it sure is in the bottom 1%
That may be the most only thoughtful, intelligent and relevant thing I’ve ever heard Geraldo Rivera say.
Seriously though, what the fuck is wrong with people? I have Conservative friends in my Facebook feed that are posting memes/pictures that repeat the same stupid mantra that Pete Hegseth repeated to Geraldo, “If you don’t love America then get out.”. So blind loyalty to whomever is in office, no matter how awful they may be or how much you disagree with their actions and decisions, is now “Patriotism” in America. Hmmm…sounds a lot like a certain country in Eastern Europe that Republicans used to love to hate.
That’s been around since the Viet Nam war protests.
I don’t even really know what politics Geraldo believes in. Fox signs his paycheck so he’s conservative. If he worked for another network he would probably espouse other things. He’s a weathervane.
Unless whoever’s in office isn’t a Republican - then America is broken and sucks and it’s your “patriotic duty” to block and get rid of them by any means necessary, regardless of legality.

This is the GOP talking point that evolved the day after Trump went dick out racist.
“Let’s just pretend that he was actually talking about something else, and not suggesting that brown people go back to where they came from, even though that’s exactly what he said.”
They’re just repeating the lie, over and over and over again.
Saying “If you don’t love America, get out” is not racist. But that’s NOT WHAT TRUMP SAID.
Trump said, and I quote:
“Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
Once you cross that line into 'go back where you came from", you are way over the line to racism. Especially when talking about american citizens who were born in America.
I know, it just kills me that otherwise intelligent and decent people (my Conservative-leaning friends) can be so easily fooled into thinking this is about anything other than race/gender and the threat Trump perceives these women to be.
The Conservative/GOP mis-information and propaganda machine in this country is working some serious overtime lately to convince 25% of Americans that reality isn’t what they see, it’s what they’re told they see. Not to pull a Godwin, but it really is approaching 1930’s Germany levels of insanity.

Well, if you want change you must hate America. Disagreeing with a government that wants change (like Obama’s or Clinton’s) is patriotic.
FOX is not where it is because the people running it are dumb. They know how bad the things they are saying and are always mindful of keeping a door behind them cracked through which FOX can retreat if they actually have in fact gone a bridge too far. FOX after all has fired several prominent people including Bill O’Reilly over the years. Remember that Megyn Kelly for a brief moment looked like she was going to get promoted by FOX if, as everyone expected, Trump’s foot-in-mouth campaign led to a sweeping defeat. The moment he won sealed Kelly’s career there.
So my take is that you have people who occasionally are allowed to pull FOX back from the brink, just in case. In no way is this out of principle but out of FOX’s hyper-sensitive frequency tuner, giving the angry masses what they want, but never 100% sure at what will rile those masses up.
It helps that since every Republican commentator today is an apparatchik there seems virtually no problem with a “here today, gone tomorrow” attitude towards them, and no matter how popular they are can almost instantly be dropped and discarded and a more acceptable drone found to replace them. If Geraldo goes too far at “attacking” Trump and “betraying” the new Conservative values of blatant Racial Nationalism (if these ideas become standard in the Conservative sphere) and FOX “denounces” him, all his current FOX viewers today will suddenly remember his many years of stupidity and laugh about what a maroon he’s always been without a heartbeat of worry, and without a moment of self reflection as to why they cheered when he told them what they wanted to hear and boo’ed when he stopped feeding their priors.
Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in awhile…
I really think you have to consider the possibility that at least some of them aren’t being fooled.
==looks at Geraldo==
You mean you’ve LOST 10 street fights, right?
Worth noting that Geraldo feels strongly about this issue because it’s something he has dealt with in his life. If something only affects other people he doesn’t give a shit.

I hate the guy, but IIRC he was pretty good in his Katrina coverage? Unless I’m conflating it with Shep Smith’s blasting of the rest of the Fox News gang, which is a distinct possibility.
Longer, and with the usual history repeating itself:
The problem with “love it or leave it” is it presupposes that one cannot simultaneously love and criticize one’s country. But now that Trump is president I guess we are all foredoomed to endlessly re-explain the blitheringly obvious, with the net effect of shouting it into a paper bag, since those who give a shit already agree anyway.

Trump’s entire campaign was based upon criticizing America.
I really hope that some Bot is collecting the names of all the Trump twitter trolls, who participate in the send her back shit. Then in 2021 when President Buttigieg (a guy can dream) takes over and they start bitching about him, quote their 2019 Merica “love it or leave posts” and fill their timeline with one-way airline ticket ads out of the country.

This plan, I can get behind it.
