But I do think the pros want to see how that 4-star prospect will play against other high caliber competition.

Again, in football that is huge. In basketball maybe not so much.

Yeah, this is a collective action problem. If a critical mass of top prospects started doing this, it could have an impact. It would possiblt raise those programs profiles enough to be top tier, which would make the decision pay off. Otherwise one or two top athletes would be handicapping themselves regarding future potential.

I’m sure some of them would be ok, but ingrained biases and not playing at top tier would probably cost some of them draft position, real money. Not that smaller school stand outs don’t get drafted in football, but there is certainly a favoring large schools at the top.

Aren’t there a number of HBCUs in Division I? Xavier is in the Big East and they play a ton of high-caliber teams.

Are you saying Xavier is a HBCU? They aren’t.

Right you are. I was confusing it with Xavier University of Louisiana.

At this point Tucker Carlson is playing a character straight out of V for Vendetta.

I was thinking “Weird Science”.

I was thinking something a bit older. We have always been at war with Eastasia.

Perhaps something a bit Juche -ier

I really hope Dobbs chokes on his fishsticks tonight. He’s scum.

Didn’t Lou Dobbs used to be like… A normal person?

I feel like i remember him not being a crazy Nazi dude. Is that just my imagination? Was he always a crazy nutjob racist?

He’s probably always been a crazy nutjob racist, but he used to disguise it better. And good news, he apparently was seen walking into the White House earlier today, since he’s one of DJT’s chief advisers.

I remember watching him in my 20s, and not thinking he was an undercover Nazi.

Like a lot of current Republicans, I think he just hid it. I remember watching him when he was on CNN and wondering at the time “why is he so obsessed about the border and immigration?”. To close out his show, he would being it up constantly. He didn’t ever say anything racist that I recall, I think it was mostly framed around suppressing wages and that sort of thing, but once he let his freak flag fly it suddenly all made a lot of sense.

Honestly, I never really watched him at all, and only knew of him in passing… I just didn’t recall hearing that he was a lunatic, which he quite obviously is at this point.

Immersing yourself in propaganda and conspiracy theories will do that to you. Unfortunately, I can say the same for a lot of my family and other Republicans I’ve known for a long time. Right-wing media went absolutely batshit insane (instead of just cheerleading their team and demonizing everyone else) and took their viewers/listeners with them. I’ve literally watched the brainwashing of a majority of the Republican friends and family I used to have.

So I wonder about the people higher up in the right-wing media system. Is it is cynical ploy to get ad dollars and political support for the stuff they want? Do they sometimes get scared about how effective it’s become? Do they tell their kids not to watch their networks?

Or did it maybe start out cynical and now they’ve hopped the train to crazy town like all their viewers?

I’d guess a little of column A, a little of column B. I think it all started as a cynical ploy to get ratings and to support the politicians who would cut their taxes. I think some drank the Kool-aid along the way.
