Paul Ryan is a gutless man.

This is something that Tucker Carlson has said, but I agree with it.

We’re in a strange place where both of our major parties represent the rich. This is not sustainable, and the Republicans need to become the party of the working and middle class if they’re going to have a future. Ryan is not going to adapt to that, he comes from a group that doesn’t particularly like middle or lower class Americans. And so he’s worked very hard to stop this shift within the party.

Because the entire edifice of the GOP today is a self-reinforcing series of grifting news media and bottom-of-the-barrel-ites, when Trump falls it’s going to look more like a collapse than a change of figurehead.

That, or the TrumpGOP takes the country down with it, preferring dissolution to giving up power, unable to change, retreat, reform or admit wrongdoing, answerable only to force.

But there’s a 100% sure way to predict when Trump will be impeached - when Fox News turns against him.

There’s also a 100% sure way to predict the Republicans will stay loyal to Trump uber alles - when Fox News supports him.

Democrats are trying to fight a legal fight in an era of endless polling and infinite information. What Democrats need to do is not win but shake the system so hard that all the skeletons fall out of the closet and make it impossible for moderate Republicans to support Trump to their friends on Facebook unless they basically admit they reject democracy and the rule of law. Then as they turn against Trump, Fox will see the writing on the wall and turn against him.

And the day Fox does, Trump is toast.
