What about the pictures of the Clinton’s at one of Trumps weddings? At least I think it was a wedding. The four of them sure look all buddy buddy in those shots.
Fuck all of these people, and fuck Fox for creating this shit.
I keep seeing that verbiage, and I keep wondering if they realize they’re implying Pence is the one behind it as he’d take office.

As I said in another thread, to these people Democrats are the greater threat to the country than Russia or other foreign governments. The would rather see Republicans cooperate with foreign governments than Democrats. It’s still shocking to me, but that’s where we’re at.
Well, yeah. Russia wants him in office, the Dems don’t. And all that matters is Trump.
Unfortunately, such behavior is to be expected when there’s a cult of personality.

I think it goes beyond a cult of personality. It’s 20 years of conservative media labeling Democrats as dangerous traitors who are seeking to destroy America and the American way of life. Recent examples of that is an impeachment inquiry being labeled a coup and Adam Schiff being called a traitor, but this goes back a long ways.
I hate to see it, but I have firsthand experience of so many formerly-rational conservatives who are just batshit crazy now. For some, it’s not even that they love Trump to bits, it’s just that as dangerous/incompetent as he is, he’s not as dangerous as Democrats controlling government.
I don’t know if that’s all coming to a head now, but if not we’re just kicking the can down the road a little further. We’re heading down a dangerous path.

I just went on a beach weekend with a Trump-loving friend. It is amazing the layer upon layer of lies they believe. Rejecting Trump would mean rejecting not one idea, but an entire world view based on scores of separate but intricately interlocking falsehoods, a world view that has been carefully constructed for them by Fox News.

I wonder what the ultimate cost to the country and the world is of all these lies piled on top of one another. All so fox can sell some more ads?
If there’s a path back to a majority of Americans believing their government, agree or disagree with its policies, has some basic legitimacy derived from the electoral process, I don’t know how we get there.

We can’t get there so long as one party keeps telling their cult followers that there are men and women out there who were not created equal. You cannot agree to disagree with that.

It’s exactly like a religion. Which is maybe why most of his followers are rabid so-called Christians (in name only, not in practice).
There’s a quote which goes “As we say in Germany, if there’s a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.”
Your “friend” will send you off to the camps to die if Trump gets his civil war. With a smile on his face.
I agree with PWK. You should have challenged your friend to a beach fight, like in the Karate Kid.
My brother married a Bosnian Serb, so my extended family has witnessed friends and neighbours ship each other off to concentration camps and to be cleansed within the last few decades. My sister in laws mum was forced out of her home and job, a single mum fleeing with 2 toddlers and 2 suitcases to start a new life. It wasnt very funny then either.
I’m sorry that your extended family was caught up in the Bosnian civil war. I’m not trying to minimize how shitty and awful that must have been.
My hope is that here in America we can avoid a reprise of that situation. And I think one part of avoiding that situation is maintaining connections between people. I’m not saying that personal connections are the only thing needed or the major thing needed, but they are helpful. If nothing else it provides a potential disproof to the Fox News bubble, e.g. “My Democratic friend is OK --> Fox News says Democrats are eeeevil --> something doesn’t compute” I wouldn’t cut the friend off unless they were being actively and directly harmful (e.g. they’re a republican senator) or they’re being hostile and belligerent to you.
I dont socialise with any vocal Brexiters/Trump supporters.
In these troubled times when the other side are operating concentration camps, the least I can do, to borrow something as old as mans culture itself, is not share my bread and salt with them.
It’s a terrible thing.
Not quite as bad as “bullshit”, but terrible.
