You know, he’s got this fake military experience, which isn’t real. I don’t know how long he’s going to get away with that. He was the mayor of South Bend, he had a lot of clout with the local Army Reserve and he had them arrange for him to take a desk job on a base in Afghanistan. So for a few months he sat at a desk on a base, that’s all he did. No military combat, anything. Anything.

Wasn’t Buttigieg in the Navy?

On Pete Buttigieg’s military service:

Buttigieg became an ensign in the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2009 and began training to become a naval intelligence officer. In 2014, he took a seven-month leave during his mayoral term to deploy to Afghanistan.[39] While there, Buttigieg was part of a unit assigned to identify and disrupt terrorist finance networks. Part of this was done at Bagram Air Base, but he also worked as an armed driver for his commander on more than 100 trips into Kabul. Buttigieg has jokingly referred to this role as “military Uber,” because he had to watch out for ambushes and explosive devices along the roads and ensure the vehicle was guarded.[38] In order to better communicate with the local Afghans, he learned some Dari (a variety of the Persian language). Buttigieg was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal [40] and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award [41] and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy Reserve in 2017.[42][43]

The guy literally helped take down ISIS. Sure, he didn’t storm into buildings with the SEAL teams, but his work in Afghanistan was no less impactful on the war effort. Calling his service “fake” is a sure fire way to piss off thousands of military veterans with similar service. Vets should flood Fox News social media with posts full of derision and scorn for Hannity, but it’ll never happen (even if it does, Facebook and Twitter would just hide most of the posts, as they’re both in the GOP’s pocket).

Buttigieg should sue for slander but he’d risk the Streisand effect. It’s terrible that they can just flat out lie about this stuff. I still get mad thinking about the Swift Boat stuff used against Kerry when Bush was lazy, combat-dodging pilot in the States not reporting for duty and essentially going AWOL.
