We are talking this guy with a shitton of ribbons on his chest, right? This decorated officer?
Yep - that’s how far down DJT has sunk the right-wing media.

I’m all for freedom of the press, but there really should be consequences for Fox and what they have become.
Eh, forgivable. Ukraine only became a sovereign state 28 years ago; before that is was just a region… and a generally ill-defined one at that.
Plus the name itself literally means “borderlands” or “frontier region”, so the definite article is kind of natural:
I wanted to let you know that I’ll be in Borderlands until Friday.
I’m really excited for our trip to Frontier Region next month!
And there are really no hard-and-fast rules for handling place-names where the formal name grew out of a descriptive noun. We typically refer to “The Netherlands” or “The Congo” but we never say “The Scotland” or “The Niger”.

I don’t hear a lot about The Borderlands 3 these days :D
Not that forgivable since the change has been all over the news for months. But he’s been too busy spewing propaganda to care about news. It’s easier being a sloppy idiot, just look at DJT.

I still catch myself making that same mistake.
I really want to get back to it; I still hadn’t left the starting area last time I played a couple weeks ago. I hear that it gets pretty good after you leave Pandora and go to the other planets in the borderlands.
That’s fair, it’s not part of your job to state it correctly, like it is his. The bigger question is where does DJT’s loyalty lie. And the answer is apparent.
These fucks love to slurp ‘the military’. Until ‘the military’ is disloyal to Dear Leader.
Eh? The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was one of the original ‘countries’ who ‘banded together’ to form the USSR in 1922. Not independent, but as much an entity with defined borders as any other Soviet Republic. The borders changed here and there (annexation of a big chuck of Poland after WWII being the big one), but at any given moment it always had clear borders.
It was commonly referred to in English as ‘The Ukraine’ back in soviet times.
It’s mind-boggling how the same party that used the military to such great success campaigning post-9/11 is now bashing Gold Star families, veterans like Mayor Pete, and decorated career military officers like Gen. Mattis and Lt. Col. Vindman, all of whom pretty much exemplify the idea of “service to your country above all else”, all in the defense of Donald Fucking Trump.
I hope there is a day of reckoning soon when military service members and their families abandon the current GOP based on this behavior. I’m not going to hold my breath or anything, but I can’t believe current service members, veterans and their families are all OK with this bullshit.

I think you’re forgetting about her emails…
I mean, sure. You’re technically correct, and we all know that’s the best kind of correct. Ukrainian People’s Republic had a rich and ancient history spanning from 1917 all the way to 1922. Sure, they fought a civil war and split in two in 1919 and the USSR had swallowed up half of it by 1921, but they were technically a country with borders on a map and everything.
But really. Since the 14th century, the general region that includes modern Ukraine was split between the Poles, the Russians, the Cossacks, the Lithuanians, and some flavor of Turks pretty much constantly. The Ukrainians mostly kept their language and their Varagandian/Slav ethnicity, but they never really paid taxes to a Ukrainian king or government outside of a few mayfly episodes, the longest of which was the five-year span of the UPR.
Change the nouns and that is the history of most any part of Europe - so OK

Trump would throw anyone under the bus for just a few seconds of feeling better. We’ve been at this point since before he won the election. But does anyone in the military care, I mean really care, as in will not vote for him? If not, then why would Trump or anyone following in his footsteps ever change?

A thread. That never, never seems to end.
