I think it’s mostly this. They are willing to sell their souls. They get the money and a certain kind of standing as celebrities among the deplorables.

I just saw an ad for a Glenn Beck TV show where Giuliani will appear tonight.
To me, things like this spell the death of journalism. The Republicans have their propaganda networks and will only go on networks that support them fully and would never hold them to task or ask any tough questions, only bemoan the Democrats and give them airtime.
CNN, MSNBC, and others are left to do analysis and talk to only people who will come on their program, which is low level GOP talking heads and people that are against all this malfeasance. At the same time, legitimate experts and balanced people who would go on CNN will never go on Fox because Fox doesn’t have journalists, it has people that give opinions and shake their head. So Fox can’t get anyone worth a damn as guests. Thus having people like Don Jr. on constantly.
So no real media outlet is actually talking to both sides. It’s completely divided. And it’s the GOP’s fault, for being cowards.
It’s our fault for watching these networks.
It’s old people. It’s all they do. My parents are retired and all they do during the day is watch CNN, and then at night they watch all three broadcast news shows before they finish it off with Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. The demographics of Fox and all these cable networks is ancient. It’s why you keep seeing them sell ads for old people medicine.
It’s like, you’re retired. Go out and enjoy the world. Take a nice drive somewhere. Explore a nearby national park. Do something. Anything but listen to fucking talking heads telling you whom to blame all day.
That takes money.
I do know some older people who do exactly that, but yeah, they’re really well off in their retirement.
Yup. If your job is to be a right wing shill, and you make a lot of money at it, you basically have two options. Stay a right wing shill or go full apostate (David Brock style). The latter approach is very risky and unlikely to keep the gravy train going, though a few (e.g. Arianna Huffington) have pulled it off.
Well, the third option is to stop making a lot of money, but let’s be realistic…
We gamers are gonna save the fucking planet if it lasts long enough for us to reach old age. We’ll show 'em how to be idle!
