I hope this fucking backfires on Fox. Their viewship skews older and they are the ones more likely to be killed by the virus, and they know it. I wonder what they think of Fox offering them up as a sacrifice?

Fox knows the lockdown/distancing measures have largely taken hold and are having an effect. They see the purple - early blue regions as their window of opportunity to slam everyone who is not a Trumpist.

I like my constantly updated version of that:

I haven’t been tracking the numbers closely, but when do we hit a million (reported) cases in the US? Monday? 100k deaths by the end of next week?

We’re adding about 30k cases a day, and 2000-2400 deaths. Testing limits and perhaps a plateu mean we have held those numbers for a week now.

Poor Herr Ingraham makes it his job to get owned.

If HIV were transmissible through the air or via touch, you better believe we would have shut shit down in the 80s. What an idiot.

SARS was much less contagious that COVID-19, which is why it petered out when serious control measure were put in place. I remember at the time people thinking we dodged a bullet: what if there was a new virus as deadly as SARS but as contagious as the flu?

And I also think the staggered way states have been locking down is causing the death numbers to be inconsistent.

I find it interesting that 11 states have now exceeded Washington’s current deaths - where it all started.

There are tons of movies in that genre that show exactly what would happen in that case.

Expert analysis.

The thing with SARS is that it pretty much hospitalized everyone who got it, and not “oh, have an IV for a couple days” hospitalized, but more “you’re going to die” hospitalization. And people were contagious when they were showing symptoms, at which point they were soon in a hospital. (Which is part of the reason why hospitals were so dangerous, and China ended up designating certain hospitals for SARS victims only.)

In comparison, what makes COVID-19 so much more dangerous is that a significant percentage of those who have it are asymptomatic, or contagious for days before it puts them on their backs.

Dr Phil isn’t even a forking Doctor.

It’s where the first known cases were, but it was circulating on the East Coast undetected at the same time. It was really foolish to think that in this age of easily-accessible jet travel that it wasn’t in the major cities already, especially with the ties between China and the US.

The West Coast locked down first, and it appears to be paying off.

He’s a Fox news ‘doctor’.

I agree. There was an epidemiologist that took the first few deaths in Washington State, extrapolated it and said something like “we know we have around 2,500 cases unaccounted for”.

Dr. Phil is a doctor in the same way that Cedric the Entertainer is entertaining.

Hey now. He was great in First Reformed.

He’s a doctor on rare occasion?
