Freedom Force: What were your custom heroes?

Here are some mods, one of which allows for free roaming and stopping crimes and such:

I installed FF vs TR for the heck of it.Could not find any patches. Is that correct?

Specific powers I dont recall, these were for ff1.

Terrapin was a plumber who built a super plumbing sewer suit thing for a big city sewer clean out contract job and ended up fighting some crime once he was down there, so he kept it up. He looks hilarious flying around.

The Condor I had no backstory for, just a flyer w/ energy blasts.

Gnash and Masher - again no story, just big hulky tanks. I think I thought of gnash as a large demonic baby.

Occulon looks crazed on purpose, he’s supposed to be a picked on nerd who built himself some painful new eyes that give him Cyclops-ish eye blasts. The visor in the last pic was a later draft where he could use the visor to focus the energy or some cheeseball explanation to have a couple types of beams to fire off.

You could more or less play it as turn-based, but I agree there was tedium involved.

I loved the original and stalled out on the sequel. I’m debating whether to to back and replay/finish.

It seemed like something went wrong with 3rd Reich project before it ever shipped…the packaging was almost non-existent, there was no color in the little manual, and the CD art looked like fan art.

I read an interview awhile back that said the manual was B&W because it paid for another month of development.

Any site where I can download meshs for FFvsTTR? I’m having trouble finding any.

Roguefrog, most of them closed up earlier this year.

I loved the original Freedom Force and completed its campaign. For whatever reason, I never warmed up to FF vs. TTR, and never got past maybe the first or second mission. Probably I should dig it out and give it another whirl some day.

Bullet was my favorite hero (though I probably used El Diablo to save my hero squad on more occasions). As much as I like City of Heroes, COH is so speed-fixated (any animation that isn’t lightning fast is immediately complained about) that there seem to be no room for a strictly speed-focused character who could ram villains at super-speed and have lots of speed-focused attacks – which is exactly what Bullet was and why I enjoyed him so much. :) Speed in COH is basically a travel power, while speed in FF was a “momentum builder” for attacks, and just a lot of fun.

I have a few new ones. I’m playing on steam now as my hybrid tablet laptop has no cd drive.

Modi, God of Wrath and son of Thor (abridged history)
The legends were wrong. Thor had 1 more son than the myths say. But Loki, ever hoping to destroy his brother, hatched the most evil mischief of all. Using the poison of the dragon, Nidhogg, Loki poisoned Thor’s Mead and in his Godlike slumber had a giantess ride him until with child. Loki took this child and hid him away from Thor and Sif. Secluded, alone, tortured, raised on dark whispers and poisoned lies, the child grew with anger and seething vengeance lusting for the death and blood of all things in the world, especially his traitorous father, Thor. You know this child as Jormugandr, the Midgard serpent. To keep them from interfering in his plot, Loki had the children of Thor put to sleep with the nectar of Yggdrasil the world tree. Once asleep, Loki had them hidden away on Midgard, their memories erased, never knowing what befell their Father at the Ragnarok. But Ratatosk, the squirrel of the World Tree, felt sorrowful compassion for the brood of Thor and bathed but one child’s eyes with waters stolen from the font of knowledge from which Odin once drank before Jormugandr smelled him and forced him to flee… Now Modi, seeks to regain the lost honor of his house and reestablish the glory of Asgard.

So with some modded fx and custom skin he has a strong passive defense. An active defense against projectiles(whirling hammer animation). A homing projectile which is his thrown hammer complete with mjolnir animation(although his hammer is Glydvir, forged from the shards of mjolnir and gungnir), a few war cries causing panic, alteration or some energy damage, a large area ground smash, a quick, free melee strike and a few attributes like flight, tough guy, hot tempered and Berserk. He’s also got a 10 strength.

I played FF1 when it was released and loved it, but didn’t get the sequel until much later. Not sure why I bounced off the sequel. I will have to try again sometime soon.

The concept of these heroes with no powers from the golden (silver? platinum? who knows) age definitely was less exciting for me. Plus the first game went all out with these really long, difficult levels and crazy locales. I don’t know that I had any energy left for the second game, despite wanting to love it.
