Or Pomping World in Japan (one of the titles that was so cheap it was usually handed with the CD-ROM of the PC-Engine in import shops), which is where the art mostly originated from.
I think the difference in name that even affected the Western release might be due to licensing issues on various platforms, like with that Wonderboy/Takahashimeijin and what not mess on the NES? Need a Pang expert to speak up.
