No guesses. Here’s the reveal! Synnergist was published in 1996 as a European only release. It was the first game by the Vicarious Visions founders while they were in high school. It also stars a young Mellified as one of the FMV actors!
That box reminds me a little bit of Neuromancer and something else–also from Interplay I think–that I just can’t put my finger on.

I love the cover because of how undeniably 90s it is. It would also make a great industrial metal album cover.
It’s too bad it was a European-only release, I would have bought something like that.
I am a videogame enthusiast grown in Europe and have never seen nor heard about this game and the enclosed young Mellified!
Here’s the Wikipedia page for those interested.
Definitely a sim and space related, but neither of those!
Another frame. I’ve given so many hints I don’t expect this one to take long

Journey to the Savage Planet
Not enough colors!
Good guess, and a fun game. But no!
Sorry folks, busy day at work today. I’ll give you a little more to work with by way of apology!

I have no idea what the cover of Civilization: Beyond Earth looks like, but maybe it’s this?
Good guess, but wrong. No wheel of fish for you!

I’ve been racking my brain over this one. I feel like there should be so few contenders in the style/genre of game that I believe this is, that the name should just come to me. But nothing seems to match.
Anyway, my current guess is Aven Colony.
Winner winner chicken dinner! Aven Colony was made by Mothership Entertainment in Austin. The game was ultimately published by Team17, but I worked with the developers while the game was funded by Stardock. We even shared office space for a while! I still count the developers among my friends today, although most have moved on from Mothership to other ventures.
I had no idea it had a physical edition.

Wow, I’m surprised! The reveqled box art bits didn’t quite match my memories of how the game itself looked, but it was the closest game I could imagine. My memories of the game itself are a couple years old, but I mostly remember cramming buildings together along long stretches of road. I think it was one of the first Xbox Gamepass games I spent a significant amount of time on, but after I stopped playing it details quickly began to fade.
I’ll have a new entry up within the next couple hours.
