I don’t know what you mean by #actually.
Are you trying to pick an argument with me? Because now you seem like you’re just doing the same thing I posted about earlier by asking leading questions designed to entrap the person giving an answer.
Also, if you haven’t been paying attention, I’m one of the voices in this thread largely on the anti-GG side.
That wasn’t a leading question, it was rhetorical. What do you think I’m trying to entrap you into an argument about? I think you may have misread my post.
You tell me. What’s your point with the rhetorical question?
Let’s say I answered with “Tecmo” or “Platinum Games”. What would your response have been?
Better yet, let’s say I answered with “Most companies are by default hetero friendly.”

I almost forgot, this post made me laugh my ass off, because i am totally juvenile.
Just in case anyone missed the joke here, could you explain the humor of that post? Like really break it down. It’s funny, yeah?
Thanks for fulfilling my wildest dreams. I passed a Virgil test.
Just FYI, super condescending bullshit tends to put people off. You might want to try a different tactic. Especially when you’re replying to someone that largely agrees with your main point.
Or you could just keep the rhetorical aren’t-I-clever fuckery to a minimum.

The fact that he said he sucked dick like it was his job.
That was the funny part.
What on Earth are you talking about?
People were disagreeing with me! I used your post to ask a rhetorical question that, I think, gets to the heart of the matter. There should be no more “BUT IN DESTINY YOU CAN START AS BLACK” responses, everybody now understands what the “white male is the default” argument. Assuming, of course, that this is a civil and reasoned discourse full of sincere questions.
#GamerGate, a play in two acts.
This, Virgil. This example right here is why so many people have found your posts aggravating. Your toxic shotgun posts don’t encourage discussion. They stifle it.
Your fishing for specific answers doesn’t endear yourself to anyone. It’s frustrating and confrontational. This is an internet forum, not an oratory in front of Parliament. You’re not the headmaster of a class lecturing students. If you have something to say, just type it out clearly and make your point. No one wants to engage in your scavenger hunt. People don’t interact like that normally.
Hell, man. I’m still trying to figure out your point. What does “BUT IN DESTINY YOU CAN START AS BLACK” have to do with most companies being hetero-friendly?
For certain, and I wasn’t saying otherwise - I was just giving an example of what someone could get offended by – don’t kid yourself, I have no doubt that my example understated the extent to which people can find things to be offended by, which is the whole point. There is really no limit whatsoever to what people can find to get offended by, and no societal changes will ever change that because perspective is relative, and the bar will always be moved since what’s offensive is subjective, not absolute, even if the underlying justifications for taking offense are universal (desire for equality, etc.).
Really? The best you can do when someone ridicules the absurd, hyper-sensitive characters who wailed like banshees at a man who accomplished one of humanity’s greatest feats, because they were offended that he wore a Hawaiian shirt – is to say that they are the easily offended ones (and tag on your own mythological creature).
Jesus, you really are Mr. Ass-backwards. This really is perfect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcfkEA2INMw&feature=youtu.be
If you only get offended at bigotry when it is specifically directed at you
I love the way you constantly whip out obvious rhetoric and present it like it’s some enlightened epiphany. Dude, nobody here isn’t offended at bigotry in any context, and yet nobody acts quite like you here. You can’t cloak your vile nonsense with noble motivations when everyone else here is similarly outraged at bigotry and, unlike you, actually acts like such things offend them, instead of wholeheartedly embracing the conduct you purport to despise. You’re utterly obsessed with what colour people are, what age they are, what sex they are, and insists on treating and judging them based on those traits, like nobody else here - you’re the epitome of a bigot and trumpet your discriminatory behavior as if it was something that ennobles you and should be lauded.
Telefrog-
I’m still trying to figure out your point.
Ok. Perhaps you haven’t read the last page or two? I explained how part of privilege is that whiteness, maleness, and straightness are the default in media. A white male protagonist is the standard, there’s jokes about white dudes with stubble and short brown hair being the lead in every game, right?
This goes beyond media, but just as an example I used that while Mass Effect allows all sorts of character customization, the archetypal Commander Shepard is the white dude with the buzzcut. Follow me so far?
Bioware goes out of their way to be more diverse in many of their games, and that’s remarkable. Nobody remarks on games going out of their way to cater to straight white males, because the default assumption is that every game caters to straight white males. That’s an aspect of privilege. To go and buy a random game and know your sexuality, race, and gender will be represented is not something that everyone gets.
Timex, ever watchful for SJW bullying, had noticed a CRITICAL FLAW in this argument, because
Thus, here we are.
Desslock- Here’s the thing.
I know to you, racism and sexism are just things that SJWs get offended by on the internet. But not everyone enjoys that luxury.
Black people and women, for example, suffer actual fucking consequences from that shit. I don’t oppose racism because it hurts my feelings, I oppose it because it’s wrong and does real damage to real people.
nobody here isn’t offended at bigotry in any context
Busc made a pretty vulgar gay joke at my expense on the last page, and the only feedback he’s received is Timex telling him how funny his joke was.

The point of me highlighting that was to illustrate that perhaps your perception of that particular aspect of games may be a bit outdated, or that it is at least changing.
I’m not sure why that seems to make you so angry.
Also, i think Desslock, and everyone else here, all think racism is wrong. I’m not sure what makes you think otherwise.
Uh, probably the multipage denial of white privilege conversation currently ongoing? Just a guess.
But if everyone thinks racism is wrong, uh, does that mean racism is over? Did we solve it? Because I still think it’s a thing. And here’s the thing. MRAs don’t claim they are sexist. They don’t admit to misogyny. They’ll say sexism is wrong. But they still are, and acknowledging that is important. We can’t whitewash offensive shit with “oh but they say they mean well”, you don’t get to self-identify as a good person and that ends the debate.

Whoa, whoa, hold on a minute there.
First, I had no idea you were gay. I did not interpret what he said as making fun of your sexuality. If that was indeed his intent, then i apologize, as i agree that’s not funny.
The way that i read his post was that he himself is gay, and he was describing his own sexuality in a humorously juvenile way. That is why it was funny.
Again, if he isn’t actually gay, and was insulting you based on your sexuality, then that isn’t cool, and I’m sincerely sorry.
