I thought it was about ethics in games journalism, rather than about what mean things were said about “gamers”

You have your own narrative that you clearly want to stick to. The idea that there is a “creeping SJW effect” seems to be a product of your biases, as no one has been able to bring up examples of this creeping SJW effect in action.

Desslock- You forgot to mention that also I get to talk about Ferguson at work without glancing around to make sure no black people are around. And those eggheads down at the socialist indoctrination camp talk about white privilege as if it was real. smdh

Who is the real victim here?

Just joking, obviously it’s that guy who got asked to put black player models in his medieval sword fight game. What an ordeal he suffered. Somehow his Kickstarter wasn’t begging, though, and somehow his whining wasn’t professional victimhood.

The mainstream view of AS is “Who is that? What is Gamer Gate?”

Followed distantly, distantly, by “Oh that’s the video games lady who got those death threats, what a shame, the internet sure has a toxic culture”

“Oh she’s trying to ruin games with feminism, but I disagree with some of the more extreme tactics used to silence her” is so far away from the mainstream I’m wondering where you could’ve possibly picked that up. The mainstream in this thread? Sure, maybe, but this is a remarkably pro-GG thread. Do you have a single, solitary example of this mainstream view expressed?

Sorry, got sidetracked by your suggestion that you had a job, as if anyone could ever value your contributions sufficiently to pay you for them. You have to at least plant a dob of plausibility on top of your crazy, incoherent rants.

I saw ZQ and Brad get into it on twitter about a year ago before this whole mess even started. She was pretty awful.

And Brad?

You really need to decide whether you’re going to stick with the “stoic and implacable, nothing bothers me” persona or the “fed up with these PC police and not gonna take it anymore” persona.

From my point of view, the primary thing painting gamers in a bad light is GamerGate itself. Before it exploded I would have agreed gamers are chill, kind people for the most part.

I have Virgil on ignore, but is there some reason he keeps posting like two or three posts in a row? Is he so angry that he can’t contain it in a single post?

Replies to multiple people. That’s all really.

The reason I ask, Alstein, is because you’re incredibly quick to blast people who don’t post here. And you’re pretty quick to imagine that the problem is “other people”, like it’s the extremists blah blah blah. Remember how you thought Wu and Brad agreed about 90%?

So here’s a fun exercise for you. Why don’t you broker a truce between me and Desslock? Come on, we all agree about everything, right, even though roughly 100% of Desslock’s posts have been splittle-inflected raging at me and I’ve maintained a consistent sneer throughout, right?

So I keep hearing about how cooler heads can prevail, MY POSTS are “manufacturing dissent”, whatever. Well, get prevailing.

Sure, so is Brad. The very fact that we feel ZQs relative awfulness is any way topical is a sign of ingrained cultural victim blaming.

I think cooler heads are prevailing. More amd more people are ignoring you and Desslock.

Your whole life is lived at 11.

Nice. Hence, any time someone flames me I can just hand wave it and anyone who disagrees with “victim blaming”.

But let’s use the the moral equivalence argument you were peddling here:

ZQ had built a sizable list of detractors due to her actions and words. And when her ex-boyfriend posted about all her misdeeds that existing group of critics dogpiled on her. It had nothing to do with misogyny any more than the cretins who dogpiled me were driven by misandry.

Wait wait wait, aren’t Zoe Quinn’s misdeeds coming from her ex-boyfriend all fabricated? They are, from what I’ve read.

I can’t imagine ever ignoring Desslock, as he’s an active contributor to Qt3 outside this thread. Virgil just lives in here and throws shit.

Pal, your deranged invective is constant, and everyone ignores or laughs at your lunacy and yet you still carry on like you’re a besieged holy warrior dealing with barbarians.

You’re just a ridiculous, small-minded character who gets jollies off unpleasant haranguing.

No. She actually did those things. The question was whether she received positive reviews from sleeping with journalists which she did not. No one she slept with actually reviewed her game. But she did get some media coverage that her game probably didn’t warrant from people she was sleeping with.

It is telling, however, that the media coverage has been so biased as to ignore the underlying fact that yes, she actually did all those things and the part that is quibbled about is how much positive media coverage she received as a result. As someone else did say, it’s just a bunch of ugly dirty laundry to be sure.

I mentioned in an earlier post that this gg business started off as being about indies and those who covered them (and to slow it down for soap frog, those who covered them would be the gaming media that covers that market segment). The whole indie thing is pretty full of nepotism but it’s not much different than any number of other cottage industries.

Rather than letting the whole matter die, some barely employed bay area bloggers decided to cover it in a way to paint gamers, IN GENERAL, as being a bunch of misogynistic man children. Shitting on your customers rarely ends well.

Desslock has been an active contribute not just to QT3 but to PC gaming in general. I have no idea who Virgil is nor why anyone should care what he thinks.
