You can always go to UNC where they queued up to the Afro-American studies, even the white dudes like Tyler Hansborough… ^_^

I’m sorry that I’m too real for you. There are hugbox forums that don’t tolerate my style, maybe you’d be more comfortable back there?

I think this is tone policing. If I had nothing to do with my life I’d try to sic my internet pals on you and write rambling narcissistic essays about how getting mansplained in an involuntary online interaction with a cismale is basically rape and both should be investigated by the campus police.

Hahaha Mr. “SJWs are just as bad, really” coming out as a full white supremacist? No way that could’ve been predicted. I think I figured out why one of your friends got “harassed” by SJWs.

But because you do have something to do with your life, you instead write rambling narcissistic(??) essays about how the appropriate response to feminist criticism of art is immolation.

As a side note, because Brad does it to, do you honestly have no idea what the word “narcissistic” means? It just doesn’t mean “bad”. That STEM degree superiority over ivory tower eggheads doesn’t extend to basic vocabulary I guess.

ISIS and watching implies beheading, and that doesn’t belong in this discussion.

Anyone who hates Anita Sarkeesian so much that he would invoke ISIS in any capacity related to her seriously needs to reevaluate the priorities in his life. You can claim it’s “Satire” or whatever, but the fact that you even thought of associating a feminist critic with ISIS shows you have some serious issues to work through.

“Here is a woman who points out some stupid tropes that video game markers regularly regurgitate.”

“BEHEADING RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE”

He’s just trolling you, man.

Hey, I can flip it around.

Anyone who is so callow as to draw a false equivalency between twitter harassment and terrorism needs to seriously reevaluate their priorities in life. You can claim it’s “rhetoric” or whatever, but the fact that you even thought of associating the kind of extreme violence characteristic of 21st century terrorism with people getting mad about luxury entertainment products shows you have some serious issues to work through.

“Here is a man who has no sense of proportion and no respect whatsoever for what words actually mean in the English language.”
“GAMERGATE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE”

Saying mean things on Twitter is not terrorism.

However, sending people death threats in order to influence their behavior most definitely is, by definition.

In fairness to Sarkesian, she really doesn’t deserved to be grouped with people like BW who are clearly really damaged: http://theralphretort.com/infamous-nutter-brianna-wu-caught-spread-sarin-gas-lie-about-gamergate-2021015/

Odd that she actually posted the tweet itself and seemingly didn’t realize that it was her supporters joking about killing gamers.

This is a serious question though, has Brianna Wu made any good games? I’m not really familiar with her name or company. I’m trying to figure out why folks are seemingly obsessed with her. Does she have some kind of influence in the industry? I never heard her name before this thread.

Where is Laminator to throw a conniption fit about terrorism?

Boy I have something good for you. You know how you like to make fun of SJWs for being easily offended and for not having stuff in their lives?

I know about a group whose entire self-worth is derived from playing video games. VIDEO GAMES! That’s how little else they’ve got going on. And they personalize that hobby so hard that any criticism of an individual game, or the industry as a whole, is taken as a personal attack on THEMSELVES. Whacky, right? These people really caught the short end of the stick, they had all the social unpopularity of the pop culture “nerd” stock character, but without the commensurate academic success. So they often feel “robbed” by a society that doesn’t give them what they feel they deserve.

But it gets better. So some intelligent and educated person wrote an un-PC but inarguable on substance article about “Gamers Being Over”. Not only did this produce a 6 month campaign of self-pity and bullying, LOL, you’re gonna love this part: every time these fucking losers talk about that article, they change the title to “Gamers are Dead”!!! I know, wild stuff.

I know how much you enjoy sneering at people who care about racism or sexism or homophobia(you, of course, were raised better than that, so you don’t care at all), so I’m very excited to let you know about people who sincerely think there’s a widespread campaign of anti-gamer oppression. I look forward to the fun jokez you’ll have at their expense.

Yup. The shit that Anita Sarkeesian, Zoe Quinn, and others have dealt with thanks to GamerGate (but even beforehand) is like the literal epitome of terrorism.

Anyone who cares about gamergate in any respect is a loser.

You’re delusional. I am not going to start posting pictures of car bombings here to prove my point because this argument is too trivial to introduce real people’s suffering, but there is a universe of difference between Sarkeesian carefully cultivating a martyr persona and getting 6 figures a year for it and some kid who got blown up on her way to school.

Certainly nothing happening with any of this crap approaches the types of violent acts of terrorism normally associated with the term. I believe that nothing has progressed beyond simple threats at this point.

Yet, at the same time, the perpetrators are still committing acts of terrorism. Weak, mostly empty threats, without any real action behind them at all. But their ultimate tactic is similar, in that they are attempting to manipulate people through threat of violence.

Although, your pointing out that none of it even approaches what most would consider “real” terrorism, (mainly because they don’t seem capacity of actually committing any violent acts, since that would likely result in their own death or punishment) highlights the idea that people actually taking them seriously and actually bowing to their demands is even more ridiculous. They should just be ridiculed, and then ignored.

The definition of “terrorism” is not “religious extremism / killing / beheading / suicide bombing”.

People’s lives are literally being destroyed by terrorists. It’s terrorism. Stop trying to pretend it’s unimportant because even worse things exist in the world.

“Cultivating a martyr persona”. Nice victim blaming. And nice “six figures” redirection that’s totally unsubstantiated bullshit.

There is a universe of difference between a tabby and a bengal tiger, and yet they are both cats. Even if it probably the lowest and least effective form of terrorism, online threats still fall under that definition… much to your eternal outrage I am sure.

How far can we stretch it? If someone tells me to suck his dick in LoL all-chat because I took 6 kills off him during laning have I been terrorized too? Have video games made us all victims of terrorism?
