The male characters in that comic don’t have enough beard on their necks.
I don’t disagree with LMN8R’s point. Anybody who appreciates story in games could probably get behind having a more diverse array of characters.

One of my favorite science fiction series ever is the uplift series by David Brin, and part of why it’s awesome is that there are only maybe four human characters in the entire series.
To be fair, Tom Orley in Startide Rising is pretty much the Action Hero.
And some of the female dolphins are “oh get your shit together” :P

I read that and in reward for reading the uplift series, i will remove you from my ignore list, leaving only Virgil.
Orley was kind of the action hero type, but he is outshined by his female counterpart, the dolphins like credeiki, Fiben the chimpanzee, Asx the big stack of democratic rings… There were just so many cool characters throughout the series. Tons of them were female, and tons were kind of non-gendered given that David Brinn actually made real aliens, and not star trek type aliens who were all humanoid.
What’s funny is that i never really considered the fact that the cast was so diverse. But it was, and it was cool, because they were actually all cool characters.
Uh Timex.
I own Upliftwar.com (and will do something with it one day :P), was on the Brin-L mailing list from like 1998 until it fell apart, etc. :P
I’m still PO’d that David’s given up writing sci-fi ><
Alex Lifschitz, half of Crash Override with Zoe Quinn, proposes a solution to gamergate

How about branding their blockbot number on their forearm?
Meanwhile, their partner, Randi Harper, CEO of Online Abuse Prevention Initiative has decided the initiative is actually getting in touch with her friends at Twitter to get Stephanie (Sushilulutwitch) suspended, as the two of them have been arguing, and 2 women in disagreement is “harassment”. Worryingly, @Support actually made Stephanie delete certain tweets on Randis request. The suspension was later reversed, with it being done “in error”

I’m pretty sure at any point if a studio looked into your social media history and saw that you had actively taken part in a hate movement, they would think twice about hiring you.
Declaring the media the enemy, in retrospect, was unwise. As the response was utterley overwhelming. They haven’t figured it out yet.
There’s enough gaining awareness of identity politics that the -ist and -phobe accusations thrown around should in the future be taken with a pinch of salt, especially when accompanied by a horde of angry millennials with brightly coloured hair. If Peter Tatchell can be declared a privileged transphobe misogynist then anyone can. They’ve diluted the words to the point they have little meaning, damaging the underlying cause.
Edit: David Auerbach on the death of outrage clickbait, a term oft thrown about in this thread (yeah mainly by me)
Edit 2: Chris Sims, X-men writer, shitlord, step up, The Court of The Internet has passed judgement.. It is time for you to be sacked.

Is it just me but it seems weird when everyone comments via their “blogs”. What happened to direct quotes and questions? If I get in a fight with my neighbor should I look on-line for his blog.
I guess it just shows my age.

Probably because Full Rant Mode is best done in your own diary-for-public-consumption.
Its your own words is the best reason i guess.
Direct quotes and questions can be twisted to fit the needs of the author. “they only printed half the interview!” is an oft heard phrase.
Ah, just what this page was missing: hyperboles for everyone!!! <horn> All you guys need are some surplus Oceania uniforms and you will be in business!
Wait, I didn’t mean it. Don’t send me to Shitlord City! NNNNNOOOOoooooooo.
Was that intentional or accidental ironic hyperbole right there?
What will really fry your noodle later on is, was I being sent to SLC for the 1984 reference or the use of the term “guys”?
Trick question: It was actually a post on a forum in 2002 where I called someone a mean name. Then fast-forward 13 years, someone looked at my post history over the entire net with the Panopticon. It never forgets, and you are only as good as your worst moment. If you are on the wrong side of the political argument, that is.
Note: no offense intended to past, current, or future residents of Salt Lake City.

You could forge enough swords to arm all of France with the irony in most of rhinohelix’s posts, so I’m not sure how he’s the winnar of the internet.
Are you talking about videogames or comics? If you’re talking about videogames, you’re about ten years behind the times. It’s astonishing to me how little credit people who raise this issue give the industry for what it’s doing. I’m pretty sure I could write one of these every year.

C’mon. No one?
NO ONE?
“Cooler, Hilts. 30 days.”

Trig, all the years I have internet-known you, I can’t believe it has come to this.
How dare you, sir. Steve McQueen?
You have forgotten the face of your father.
In order to redeem your honor, I have found a suitable replacement. Go forth and movie-sin no more.
