I still have a sneaking suspicion he was a anti-GG sockpuppet. Just as the thread was waning, along comes an archetypal SJW to heat things up again but he remains a useful citation.

Edit: GG sockpuppet even. Too good to be true.

I suspected he was a sock from the great purge. As such, only an IP ban would stop it so I didn’t press the issue.

Their practice of safe spaces/hugboxes means they adopt the same mannerisms, grammar and vocabulary (it gets likes). Fairly easy to spot, yeah.

Heh - who else had quite that brand of Quebecistan bigotry?

At one point, I actually thought he may have been a false flag. His posts seemed almost intentionally geared towards making his supposed position as offensive as possible, and alienating everyone he could.

That, coupled with the fairly cliched way he approached so many of the talking points, citing things like critical race theory, acting like everyone else was uneducated (seriously, I’m pretty sure everyone here was at least a bachelors degree). I have a hard time believing that someone could seriously act like that.

I resent the implication that I have a bachelor’s degree, sir! I got where I am through good old-fashioned video game playing!

;)

Sadly, Timex, there’s quite a few people like that.

I’ve had erm…encounters of various kinds with the far right, and there’s plenty of educated people there. It’s not that they can’t think, it’s that they chose to think along selective lines. And everyone else is automagically plain wrong.

Think about the Tea Party on economics, in America. Or the reflexive denial of AGCC among some American Republicans.

Ditto! Wait, not quite true. The local arcade closest to campus getting a Tekken machine is why I don’t have a bachelors degree. But I can still do King’s 10-hit combo by pure muscle memory.

I can say for me, it was the Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters machines. I did get my degree eventually, after SNK died. ^_^

I named my cat King when i got him in college. He’s now 18 years old somehow still quite healthy.

Hah, I had a choice of university or acid house raves. I chose the smiley face.

Oops, I actually meant GG sockpuppet.

Wow, even I have a bachelors degree.

Can’t say I approved of Virgil’s debating style, but he did ask repeatedly what the GG folks were actually upset about and never did get a straight answer. I don’t think they have a straight answer. Which kinda hurts their legitimacy.

“Leigh Alexander hurt my feelings” and “Some girl who made a game had sex and I’m jealous of her” etc. etc.

“Playing videogames makes you a shitlord unless you do it ironically.”

<insert vague answer and then immediately create a strawman and knock it over>

Also somehow that entire sentence isn’t 5 words.

Leigh Alexander’s article was indeed shitty.

Of course that doesn’t make me “pro GG”. But i think that’s how a lot of the thread went downhill, as folks like Virgil seemed to think that anyone who was critical of Alexander’s article must then be supportive of anything anyone did in the name of GG.

I just think she was a hypocritical hack.

Plot

TV MX, the most powerful Mexican television corporation, discloses a scandalous story involving Governor Carmelo Vargas (Damián Alcázar) in serious crimes and illicit business. Governor Vargas, worried about his political future, decides to clean his image and negotiates a billionaire secret agreement with the owners of the TV Corporation. Carlos Rojo (Alfonso Herrera), an ambitious young news producer, and Ricardo Diaz (Osvaldo Benavides), TV network star reporter, are responsible for making a dirty campaign to change the image the public has of the corrupt Governor and make him, at any cost, a political star and a great presidential candidate.

Well, aside from the 120 pages of lengthy and repetitive answers Kuchera and you ignored because they didn’t fit your polemic
