I feel like this summarizes a lot of the conversation around GamerGate:
GamerGate caller: “People are deciding, a little less cleavage, a little less ribald humor. People are self censoring. How in the world did we get to the point that we have to censor ourselves because everyone has such thin skins? Half the games that we loved as kids, could they even be made today without causing an uproar? Do you think the breast bounce in Dead or Alive, you think that would be made today? That frightens me.”
Jeff Gerstmann: “Uh Dead or Alive 5 just came out. The breast bounce options are even crazier now.”

It would not be made in USA today… In japan they don’t care about this thing. Anyway thats a good boomerang argument thrown.

They’d never make this game that was made in Japan today!
They already did…
Well, sure… IN JAPAN!
Wut?
It’s like saying the Japanese would never make the St Louis Arch today as some sort of proof of things changing in Japan. Considering they never did at any point… congrats on an iron-clad argument?
Deliberately obfuscating it there. Or trying to shame Teimans command of English as a second language. His statement is crystal clear.
I guess what they are saying it that it wouldn’t have been made in the US in the past neither? (that nothing has changed in that regard?)
Why not? No laws against it, really nothing whatsoever preventing it from being made. The USA is super permissive.

Is the word “fuck” allowed on TV yet? ;)

It has nothing to do with what he said or how he said it, but what he was relating.

Not on networks, but it is also the only word you can’t say anymore.

Show a nipple in TV, or direct a slang term at a minority in TV, and see the reaction.
If must be hell to be a public figure, always controlling what words you say and how you say things to not [trigger] anyone.
What is to be free?
To not be scared all the time.
Both Game of Thrones and basic cable would like to have a word with your assessment.
Who watches Network TV anymore? That the networks don’t allow a few things is hardly the benchmark I would be looking at regarding American permissiveness or freedom. Nice try though.

I was about to continue my argument. But I remembered that XKCD comic about “Somebody is wrong on the internet”, and decided not.
Also, maybe I am the one wrong here.
Did the US DOA (or was it Tekken) get that blonde cat girl that caused complaints? The Japanese dev was trolling Nu-Puritans and threatening to replace her with a muscled skinhead dude but I don’t think anything actually happened and she was/is being included.

It was Tekken, and Harada was trolling out of his ass, as he often wants to do. It’s not the first time he’s threatened that either. (and he pulled the same stuff with some Phillipines cultural types complaining about Jozie Rezal- at least I got one of my friends doing a damn good cosplay of her out of that character already)
Also, the reason people were upset with the character had nothing to do with social justice issues, and everything to do with the fact they thought the character was stupid and unworthy of inclusion in a game where a number of fan-favorite characters were being left out.

Even normal cable stuff like FX, not just HBO and the other pay channels, has far more nudity/violence/language than anything decades ago. Just from that single channel check out: Louie, The Americans, Archer, Son of Anarchy, Fargo, etc. On even the OTA networks (like that matters) you have Hannibal and the Following and stuff.
And watch The Americans, it’s really good!
Naked and Afraid. All the bare ass you want, and unedited comments about what insects are crawling into and biting their buttholes. Fuzzed-out genitalia and of course female nipples are fuzzed-out, but otherwise an hour of naked people walking around eating grubs and enduring 21 days of starvation and exposure. No way this show would have aired 10 years ago.

Well there’s no way about 80% of what is on Discovery and History channels would have aired on them 10 years ago.
This is not a compliment, at all.
