Game of the Month - August 2024

Unquestionably The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, which with a Wabbajack modlist and some additional selected mods that looked appealing, has once again sucked me in for dozens of hours already despite its age and having played the shit out of large chunks of it back in 2002 and 2003.

Felt like I played a ton of games in August but didn’t really commit to any of them for more than an hour or so. There were a few that managed to get their hooks into me:

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide - This was a lot of fun for awhile, but ultimately felt half-baked. Combat and the OST were great though.

Astral Ascent - Every time I played this I would be unable to stop, like literal hours of me going “one more run.” This is a cross between Dead Cells and Hades. I never played Dead Cells, but I easily like Astral Ascent more than Hades, which was pretty good itself.

Atlas Fallen - Went into this knowing not much, but ended up having a blast. The sandsurfing and movement in general is fun, love the verticality of the environments. Combat has been tough but satisfying on hard. Thanks, Gamepass!

Everquest again this month. Hit level 60 which is max in era and haven’t done that in a while. Exploring all of Kael and Velk’s lab in places I haven’t seen before.

Trials of Mana (remake). Wonderful music. Beautiful art. Great accessibility features. I especially loved the voice acting. One of the main characters has a speech impediment, another has difficulty with the language, and there’s some female characters voiced by dudes.
