As buggy as it is, Battlefield 4 for me.
Not much time this month for games.
Only game I finished was:
Call of Juarez: The Cartel on Hard with the chick (long range specialist).
OK game all around with tons of swearing (I think it holds the record of most profanity in a game).
The secret stuff (you are not supposed to be seen taking some items + do some stuff you get instructions via phone from your boss) is a gimmick nothing more.
I got some PSN cards and got some downloadable only games for my PS3.
I played a bit of “Tokyo Jungle” which is fun and has an interesting setting (Humans died out? and pets / animals rule the cities).
The last days I continued “Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army” and finally beat level 2 on Hard. Either they nerfed the game a bit for single player or my new mouse pad was really worth its money (Razer Vespula).
October was card games galore for me. First, I joined the Ascension league here at Qt3, so I played a lot more of that than usual. Then, I’ve been participating in the SolForge community tournaments, so most of my available gaming time on weekdays have been spent on brewing decks and playtesting for those. And, finally, when the tournaments winded down, I luckily got into the Hearthstone beta and have since been playing that non-stop (well, when the servers have been up anyway).
Faeria Beta, Skullgirls , and Drox Operative mostly for this month for me.
Reinstall. We could tell that my hard drive (or something worse!) was failing, but sadly my computer can’t read most of what is on the back-up discs we made. Anyway, I did much more downloading and re-modding than actual playing. Not to mention that the level 49 character I’d hoped to finally finish the Skyrim main quest with is gone. I’m not sure whether I’m sorrier to have lost her levels or her face.
Rocksmith 2014 got me playing my guitar more than ever. Never played the first edition of the game, but all sources indicate that it’s a huge improvement.
Using a Joystick? I’ve been wanting to give both Independence War games another go, but am not even sure if my Sidewinder Forcefeedback 2 will even work in Win7 64
Congratulations!
I said you the game was great some years ago :P
2 games tied:
Persona 3 Portable, still playing. It’s feeling like a slog now, but I’ll push through. I’m currently at October in-game.
One Finger Death Punch for 5 days during the month. Glorious. Still not passed the 1st level yet. I dunno if I’ll play it anymore, but it’s great fun while it lasted.
Yup, using the same Saitek stick I’ve been using for years. The controls can be changed, but it’s a bitch to do so, so its best to just learn the defaults. It can be ridic hard at times though, but it’s totally, surprisingly worth it.
And you were right, and I am eating my words. :)
Bioshock Infinite. It’s as bad as everyone says it is and for all those reasons. It’s also as good as everyone says it is and for all those reasons. I don’t know if I will finish it, since The Walking Dead has captured my gaming attention.
Also, started a new game of System Shock 2. Yes, it’s still amazing, fourteen years later.
Tell me if you agree with my Gamespot review!
NOW I do. ;)
The USB version mostly works. I don’t remember if I did anything special with it. Probably not. I get some serious hitching when I combine it with TrackIR, so the firmware is probably a little clunky. I also have some issues with force feedback detection and dropout. That might be due to USB ports or something.
It’s promising enough to try it in the Independence War games. Let us know how it goes.
Way way too much Netrunner on OCTGN. I play live too and have all the sets up to date, but it’s a great resource to throw decks together and test them out before bringing them out to the real world.
You should volunteer to teach me! I have the core sets of Netrunner and AGOT winging their way to me now. :-)
(seriously though…OCTGN acct = charmtrap)
Surprisingly, Everquest is still taking most of my time this month. The addition of the mercs has really opened it up for my wife and I and we are finding plenty of quests to do and new areas to explore. There is a certain satisfaction getting more powerful in a game where we were never quite able to achieve it in the past (1999 - 2002 timeframe). I also really like playing an enchanter.
I also fired up a new 1.2 world for Terraria and got my wife to play this time with me. We finally killed the Skeleton dude and have been exploring the dungeon for the first time. I really want to experience hard mode this time, so will have to find time to keep pushing on.
My solo game of the month was the new Space Rangers HD version. I finally gave easy difficulty a try and found it suited me a lot better for this game. I was finally able to progress toward the mid game and get into some combat with pirates and dominators without blowing up instantly. I still suck at RTS missions, though.
October ended up being an awesome month for gaming. Looking at the entire month, my GOTM has to be Marvel Puzzle Quest. It’s ridiculously addicting and pulls me away from my PC and PS3. Honorable mentions in this competitive month are GTA5, Space Rangers HD, Path of Exile, and Terraria 1.2.
GTA V is what I played the most. But my game of the month is Diablo III on the 360, even though I didn’t care for the PC version. The console version kicks ass.
GotM for me would be Spelunky, which probably isn’t surprising to anyone who’s been following the Spelunky thread.
I’m also playing and enjoying Demon’s Souls for the first time. I’ve played Dark Souls already, but I’ve only recently acquired a PS3, so I’m taking a trip through the ol’ back catalog.
I also did some Humble Bundle backlog clearing, including:
[ul]
[li]Blood Bowl: Legendary Ed: Not my thing, apparently.[/li][li]To the Moon: Dammit, there’s something in my eye. Yep, the other eye, too.[/li]
To The Moon story spoiler
[spoiler=“No, really, get out if you haven’t played”]The fact that I have an identical twin made the story a bit of a double whammy. Direct hit to the feels, man. Fuck, there go my eyes again.

[*]Dear Esther: While I respect that they’re trying to expand the way game narrative works, I can’t recommend this to anyone who’s already played the mod. Unless, you know, you want to give them money, which is cool.[/ul]
