Plus we don’t know wether she really died or not.
GF and I just watched on HBO Go. She stomped around a bit, but still loves the series.
I’m thrilled, of course. So very well done. Amazing.
Is that really a serious possibility?
God, that is the worst cliffhanger in the series.
Wasn’t there supposed to be a 3rd book character who dies unexpectedly.
Perhaps I am confusing some timeline, but I haven’t seen this unexpected death yet . . . only one episode to go, right?
Beric/Hoster/less likely people
I really, really hope it’s not Beric.
Fuckin’ A. I would love to see Eccleston as Stannis, he could totally nail it.

I don’t really remember much about Pod other than him being a convenient character for Tyrion or Brienne to have a conversation with / demonstrate some pity towards. Surely that role can be given to another, more crucial character?
Let’s be honest - who they really need is circa 1970’s Sigourney Weaver.
I have a feeling it will be someone totally unknown.
From the other thread:
Heheh. I’m glad to see there are still surprises in store for non-readers ;).
Isn’t he already dead or something?

When I read the books I always pictured Hilary Swank (with something like her Million Dollar Baby look) as Brienne. Tough, kick butt, kind of homely. Not you per se, Ms. Swank, but when you’re made up to look kind of homely.
That’s fantastic. That camera dude is baaaaaaked.
I just read Clash of Kings again. I have no idea where you all get your vibe for Brienne. She is described as utterly lacking breasts, with the physique of a man in terms of muscle. This is not Sigourney Weaver or Hilary Swank. Think woman’s body builder and you are getting closer.
Yeah but this is HBO we’re talking about. They’re gonna go with someone more amazonian than mannish.
With any GoT casting, they have two choices: (a) go with someone who fits the “look” of the character as described in the book and hope they can act, or (b) cast someone who can act and hope that the fanboi hordes don’t howl too loudly that the eye color (or whatever) is off a bit.
The producers seem to be going with “b”, which is gratifying… I’ll gladly plow through hundreds of posts on how Arya “isn’t horsefaced enough” while I’m enjoying Maisie Williams act.
For Brienne, my mental image doesn’t match any one actress. I think young Sigorny Weaver would have been too willowy. If I were HBO, I might look into athletes: Vonda Ward might be too pretty for Brienne, but she’s 6’6’ and the physique is right; there are any number WNBA players who would fit the bill… if they can act.
Keep in mind that whomever they cast as Brienne will most likely be European rather than an American.
I thought the casting decisions would bother me, but so far I think they’re perfect for a TV series. Especially Dinklage as Tyrion. I wonder if they could smash Brigitte Neilsen’s boobs down enough to turn her into a TV version of Brienne.
I’m having more fun that I ever would have imagined watching this series, but it pales in comparison to the pure joy of reading the AGoT non-spoiler thread and watching everyone wrongly theorize about pretty much everything (just as I did while reading the books).
Anyone think there will be a huge backlash after next weeks episode? The two main guys will be dead and they will be replaced by baby dragons. Alot will depend on how cool the scene looks but I think most people who like the show are into the people/politics not the fantasy elements. I guess it depends on how people react to the king in the north thing.
