Tangential and sexist query, from someone who hasn’t seen the series - wasn’t Sansa Stark supposed to be a total hottie in the books? She seems pleasant/plainish in all the screenshots I’ve seen… is that representative?

For me, the books give Sansa the qualities of “pretty” and even “beautiful” but not in the hot-and-sexy sort of way. She is always lady-like, demure and proper. Her features are fine and delicate. She is still young as well and so the perfect ‘maiden’. Also, she and most of the children favor their mother; only Arya and bastard Jon favor the father - the Stark. Starks are of the north, darker haired and less ‘couth’ to the rest of the seven kingdoms. Tully’s are from the riverlands, more classically featured I guess you would say.

To that end the HBO series Sansa was not a perfect fit for me in looks but was in mannerisms. I agree that visually she was perhaps a bit too plain. It’s a fine line I suppose.

And I’d say that if you think that actress is plain from screencaps, it’s probably not representative. She’s a very pretty young woman.

I thought she was 12, one year younger than Dany. And yea, she looks pretty plain on screen, something about her face always looks off to me. The actress has done a fine job with the role though.

The initial casting photo GRRM put up of her over a year ago made me think she was a beautiful young girl, but I think she slipped into a bit of an ugly duckling stage by the time filming began. I still think she’'ll end up being a pretty woman once she’s grown.

Haha, I have to keep that in mind. On this show it is very possible that every character is playing an angle at every opportunity.

I kind of took that guy [Littlefinger] at face value that he’d help Stark’s wife, giving true info on the knife being an example.

Let’s face it, he’s in a pretty good position right now, and a big part of that is due to shenanigans related to the knife. That would mark him as immensely devious though, possibly the most devious on the show, with maybe Joffrey’s mom as his only equal.

Totally reasonable based on S01 HBO, totally hilarious after Cersei’s POV chapters in aFfC :)

They’ve got a price and pre-orders being taken in various places, but no release date yet. I’m not sure if I should expect it closer to next year’s second season or soon (in the fall) because it’s already up for pre-order. I’m looking for the BD version, though.

I don’t expect a character in a future episode to be like “So I killed this person using this item in this exact place”. And I expect HBO will have something like “Cersei managed to get Jon Arryn killed” in some online or DVD synopsis.
