They’ve already said they’re moving up some timelines from ASOS, and putting some things on screen that were “off screen” in the books, in order to keep some fan-favorite characters (Jaime and Robb, it has to be) in front of viewers during season 2.

I just noticed that the BD version is up on Amazon for pre-order. No release date for it listed, though. Looking forward to seeing the comparison to the books, mainly in terms of how well the characters fit how I imagined them (not in terms of looks, which I already can see, but in terms of personality).

I’m sure. I can’t imagine HBO missing the opportunity to have Robb’s injury and the ensuing “tragic love story” play out on screen. It’ll help a lot to set up the emotional impact of the big events in season 3.

Plus, that sort of came out of nowhere in the book, so I’ll appreciate seeing it play out on tv.

That OtakuASSEMBLE guy on youtube that had that amazing meltdown about the death of Ned just got a really cool gift.

I would have sent him Ned’s decapitated head used in the show. Maybe they CG’d it all, so they couldn’t.

They didn’t - there was an interview where Sean Bean was talking about what a creepy feeling it was to handle the prop of his severed head.

Ahh, well, it was probably expensive, they’ll want to auction it off, they plan on reusing it, or they just aren’t that cruel. ;)

“We saw how attached you were to Ned Stark, so we got you a gift .”

They dd underline the OR YOU DIE part of the poster at least.

Fair enough, and admittedly, it would have been a bit of a dick move. The signed poster is still a really cool gift and it was a great way to turn something that could be construed as negative for the show (look, this story pushes people away) into something a bit more positive, at least as a piece of PR.

Your Quaithe of the Shadow and mine, Laura Pradelska.

And one for the ‘well, all righty then!’ file:

In a recent NY Magazine interview with Jason Momoa, he hinted that Drogo might be making a comeback, further noting that he had written some scenes and sent them to the producers.

“I wrote some scenes and they might try to use them. George [R.R. Martin] can only write so much. Something could happen. Drogo could have a twin. You never know.”

Aw. He’s a writer!

Dude. He wrote his own Conan sequel. Before the first one was even released. I’m not sure if he’s delusional or just really naive.

From the interview:

… It was a lot of fun to play Drogo. There’s a possibility you’ll see me do him again.
Even though he’s dead?
It’s a fantasy world, sweetheart.

Jesus, the guy comes of as bit of a hollywood prick, there. “Sweetheart?” Really?

Bonus points for be married to Lisa Bonet, though.

He’ll just discover some more waterlogged calendars or edit another Wild Cards anthology as that doesn’t require actual writing.

Found via Slashfilm:

A couple of special effects breakdown videos. Once again, I am astounded not by the cgi but at the extent of it. Oh, and spoilers.

OK, that first one was super-impressive.

The second one was less-so, not because of the lack of skill or anything, but because it showed that scenes that I thought looked sparse because of the lack of extras… were only sparse due to a lack of imagination. Specifically, the Tourney of the Hand… they actually projected the meager “crowds” into the scene? Really? Ugh.

Looks like Conan Stevens is out as Gregor Clegane. They recast the role. Sounds like the problem was on Conan’s end, as he’s busy filming The Hobbit and apparently he’s got a bigger role in Spartacus.

Also, the big news, Neil freaking Marshall is directing episode 9. I won’t spoil things, except this is GRRM’s episode, the budget buster. They brought in a film director who can get the job done. This is Marshall’s first TV job.

Just had to make sure this was the spoiler thread before responding…
Whats so big in Ep 9 again? I assume its the Battle of the Blackwater?

Yep. GRRM has said he’s writing the battle episode. I think the title is also “Blackwater.”

I was under the impression that that was on purpose - large crowds in medieval terms being less than large crowds in modern ones.
