I was pretty disappointed in that trailer, actually. I thought it was going to be our first taste of some real footage from season 2, but not so. It’s atmospheric and I love the Stannis voiceover, but I was really hoping to get to see some of the new characters in action, or some action scenes. Probably too early for that I guess, but still.
We’ll get it next month, when Luck officially kicks off its season run. (Not counting tonight’s sneak peak of the first episode.) Game of Thrones is on deck to succeed Luck when its season ends, so that’s when the promotion machine gets into full gear. They’re already warming it up; been a bunch of updates on the official show blog this month.

“The cold winds are rising?” Is that even in any of the books? I just read them and it certainly doesn’t ring a bell.
Shouldn’t the tagline be something about a clash of kings?
That does look nice. I’ll have to make my wife watch those extra videos (she’ll never read the books, but enjoyed the first season).
A search of my kindle has six mentions phrased exactly that way, although none said by or to Stannis that I can detect. Not exactly memorable, but I guess it’s setting up a transition from “Winter is coming” to Season 3’s inevitable “FUCK it’s freezing up in here”.
It’s official: Season 2 begins April 1, two weeks earlier than expected.

I took a look at the announced casting and noticed they moved certain characters from A Storm of Swords to the second season. To get the maximum amount of pleasure out of season two, you may also want to finish the first few hundred pages of Storm.
You do have ten weeks, which should be sufficient enough time for most people.
I hope they do something, I found the books more and more boring the further I got.
Oh, gods yes, books 2 and 3 were just atrocious. I hope they skip them and go straight to 4 and 5.

Oh yea. Especially those action packed Brienne chapters in Feast. Please!
A Storm of Swords, boring? That’s opinion in the absence of any supporting evidence. It might be that people can reasonably disagree on A Clash of Kings, perhaps – but not A Storm of Swords.
I was sort of gobsmacked by that opinion too.

I read A Storm of Swords in July and have this to say: the book is excellent. However, it is slow in places - at least on a first read. A re-read uncovers many hidden details that make it both worthwhile and a real pleasure, but these details (such as “mayhaps”) go unnoticed on a first read. I think many of you are mistaking the overall impressions of the book - intricate, daring, and fast - for the entirety of it, which varies.
I know that A Feast for Crows gets criticized quite often, but I found it more enjoyable than A Clash of Kings. The change in pace was very refreshing. Brienne’s chapters were among my favourites, and she quickly grew to be the character I loved the most. I usually enjoy reading about characters who are more difficult to define morally (Theon, Jaime, Sandor, Tywin, etc), but she was the exception.
However, I did have the benefit of not waiting five years for Crows, nor waiting six years after it for Dance, so my take is understandably different to that of someone who has been reading since the beginning.
Dinklage won the Golden Globe for “Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” (could that be any longer?) and used the end of his speech to call for support to Martin Henderson, the recent victim of a crippling “dwarf toss” assault outside of a pub. Dinklage is awesome.

Dany looks absolutely lovely in the brief scene of Qarth.
more stuff happens in the second book, sure. But the writing gets much more boring and repetitive as the books go.

Say what you will about GRRM and his ASoIaF series - but boring… No. Not a chance.

Awesome they are filming in Dubrovnik. I really want to go there.
