I have read the first three books twice and I was totally shocked by my reaction to the end of episode 9. It really shook me up, even though I knew exactly what was going to happen. Pretty awesome and a huge testament to the quality of this show.

A trilogy made up of only two books would have most certainly reduced the re-readability of the books. :)
I’m not saying the total experience would be as good! But you have to ask yourself, do I feel lucky? No wait, you have to ask yourself, if Tolkien died before finishing Return of the King, would have preferred not to have read the other two books?
Taking into account that LotR was written as a single book, Tolkien dying would have changed quite a lot. As in, no LotR, at all. The Hobbit would still be available though…
Don’t start getting pedantic on me, Masta. You know what I mean. And LOTR was Scuzz’s example, I just ran with it.
Sorry, but someone was wrong on the Internet, and that’s something that just cannot stand. :D
In any case, does anyone truly believe that this series isn’t going to be finished, one way or another?

I can’t recall who the authors involved are/were but wasn’t there some long fantasy series where the author died and somebody else came in and finished them off. I don’t know the answer to this question so I honestly don’t know, but how did that work out?
Were the “new author” books accepted by the longtime readers?
I think that was the Wheel of Time series, but I gave up on it after three or four books so I have no idea how that worked out.
I know the new Dune books are certainly not thought of as being in the same league as the first ones. No idea on Wheel of Time.
But still, it’s one of those things where it’s all a roll of the dice, depending on the writer.
Jordan pretty much ran that one into the ground several books before he passed away unfortunately.

Martin indicated that he’ll not let another writer finish the series for him in case he dies before finishing, at least according to Wikipedia.
In that case, as Bender would say, “Well, we’re boned!”
“unfortunately” should be the second word in that sentence, not the last…
/M.
Was going to put “thankfully” as last word but I don’t really hate RJ that much
HBO posted Sunday’s 22-minute special early on the web.
I was just coming here to post that. Nice little recap on the first season with some sneak peeks at season 2.
Oh, and Emilia Clarke with her natural color = fap fap fap.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.
SPOILER ALERT. DO NOT CLICK IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO THE LORD OF BONES IS, OR YOU WANT TO STAY VISUALLY UNSPOILED

Looks kind of like the Trix rabbit to me, trying to trick someone into giving him their cereal…hiding his ears under the helmet.
Man it been a long time since I read these books. Have no idea who this guy is supposed to be.

I just finished the second book and I really don’t think he was in it.
