You three should feel ashamed, for different reasons. He’s a wildling under Mance Rayder. It’s really hard to form an impression from that low-res shot alone, it’s very blue.

Oh wait is he the dude with all the wives?

nope.

I’m halfway through book 3 now, and I know who he is, but I refuse to look because I won’t be spoiled. I won’t!

Never done this before in my life, but I’m actually taking next Monday off from work in order to stay up late and watch the season 2 premiere instead of DVR’ing.

I think he’s more often referred to as ‘Rattleshirt’ and he’s not in the books a whole bunch. Very minor character I’d say.

Minor, but very memorable.

If you want a small taste of the awesomeness that is Tyrion clashing with Cersei, then watch this clip

There are five other clips from the season premiere as well.

Leaving for a viewing party, shortly.

Winter has arrived!

Wow. It’s back, and better than ever. For an episode that was half “here’s what you need to remember and what you ought to know” and half “here’s some new folks for you to mull over” it was still chock full of great scenes and vivid imagery. The scene near the end where Slynt’s men were hunting down Robert’s children was brutal but effective. Craster’s keep looked every bit the same as I’d imagined it from the books, and I loved that they did the scene at Dragonstone around the painted table.

Looks like Season Two will not disappoint in the least.

They don’t need 5 episodes to set everything up, like they did in Season 1. Everyone I was watching with at the viewing party was all “noooooo” when the credits rolled. That hour went fast.

The motherfucking direwolves look amazing.

Man it’s going to be a long season…I hate when the credits roll! Great start to season 2.

Damm I wanted to save 14.00 a month.

That whole scene around the table of Westeros was great, the wide full view looked like a painting and reminded me weirdly of David Lynch’s Dune.

No kidding! My wife and I literally both said, “What!?” when the credits came up. That episode felt like it was only 30 minutes long.

I haven’t read Clash of Kings in years - but I don’t remember Janos Slynt killing all of Stark’s bastards - was that actually in the book? What about Cerci having the guards threaten Littlefinger?

All in all great episode.

I don’t think we were ever “shown” it specifically. It was certainly implied that the reason Gendry was sent to the wall was to keep him out of Cersi’s crosshairs. Slynt was taunted as a baby-killer at one point since he killed (I think personally) Robert’s daughter by the whore.

Yeah, the bastard killings were mentioned, but never shown.

Did anyone else find the scene with Dany and her outrider a little weird?

YES. It was like they had something between them romantically. I actually started to wonder if the producers are going to set Rakharo up in place of Darrio as Dany’s love interest down the road. It would save them finding yet another actor (and the crazy dyed hair thing probably wouldn’t go over well with non-book audiences anyway) and it would make Dany seem far less shallow if she fell for one of her Dothraki protectors instead of some vapid mercenary captain.

The producers have said that they intend to combine characters from the books and trim or alter some non-critical events to make everything smoother and easier to follow. They already seem to be doing that with the blood riders, giving Rakharo a couple of scenes that would have belonged to Jhogo in the books.

Exactly my thoughts. The scene did seem to make them a little too familiar with each other for just regular Khaleesi to outrider interaction. I can definitely see them using him instead of Darrio later.

YES! My biggest annoyance with season 1 was the ordinary-dog-like appearance of the direwolves. I was SO glad when I saw how they looked in this episode: BIG.
