Her dialogue regarding giving him a son cuts directly across his honor though. I highly doubt Stannis would publicly acknowledge and legitimize a bastard. So it didn’t make much sense as an effective seduction technique on Melisandre’s part.

Like I said upstream, I lean toward the interpretation that he’s been sleeping with her since book 2, but I’d prefer I think the temptation to throw in another sex scene was too great.

Dammit, dude.

You’re in the spoiler thread.

Wrongy McWrongerson

Yeap, I was wrong, apologies.

Yes, this is what I was saying earlier. These are all visual images that I expect will tell the Stannis story much more quickly and easily on TV than attempts to introduce his wife, daughter, fool, and series of Hands who ultimately fail him.

Also, @Pogo - this is very much the spoiler thread - bump the other if you want some spoiler free discussion.

Fuuuuuuck I see it now. Sorry about that.

Meh, we all try to be good - it happens.

Well, you prudes, tonight’s SNL was just for you!

Gotta wait till it’s on Hulu, I guess.

Video is available on Gawker. Somewhat amusing, but should’ve been shorter.

Much better episode tonight than the previous week. And we got a little Aeron Damphair.

Question from this episode that I can’t remember from the books:

Why was theon only christened to consecrate his faith? I thought ironborn were drowned with water. Even I, who was raised protestant, was dunked underwater! Other than that disappointment, great episode.

I didn’t care for tonight’s episode. Weakest yet, imo.

Wouldn’t the gold cloaks know that Gendry has dark hair?

It’s my understanding that primarily the priests of the drowned god are actually drowned, everyone else can just have salt water poured over their heads.

Those weren’t gold cloaks who captured them - they were free riders in the service of Tywin Lannister, currently encamped in the desolate castle of Harrenhall.

Replying to CSL from the non-spoiler thread.

I also agree with the excellent scenes. I couldn’t watch Bran’s scene, I had to pause and facepalm with the utter tragedy of him beginning his path to being a warg. Much more powerful to me in visual format.

That’s how I remember the baptisms in the book as well. It fits much better with the harsh life of the iron born as well. Drowned and brought back, hence what is dead can never die.

Aeron Damphair mentions how the hardcore fully drowned baptisms are the true way to please the salt gods, while the practice of just pouring some saltwater on the baptized person’s head is newer, and in his eyes weaker.

“Would you like me to get my brother?”

I don’t remember that in the book.

Awesome episode. Was there something off with Littlefinger’s accent in the scenes with Tyrion? I don’t know what it was, but something made me really notice the way he spoke.
